[EVENT POST] 1 DAY

May 12, 2012 03:50

Dun, dun DUN!

Slowly the past few days had counted down with each of the days only getting crazier with each passing night. A veritable bat-signal on the first night, followed by signal flares and then cake before ending with a proud display of all of the island castaways's underwear on the beach. What could possibly be worse? There were many things that could have been worse but the one that occurred wasn't one that would quite continue the trend.

Instead it could almost be called beautiful in its own right. As night fell, the stars all hid. Black clouds gathered over the island as if predicting the next twenty four hours were going to be horrible, and the island quietened down spookily. The native animals went to hide in their resting spots and refused to be found, the wind stilled and breezed through on only quiet occasions, at least keeping the island temperature down to a comfortable, if creepily uneventful, cool.

Then the island grew bright with an unearthly glow that radiated from the ocean itself. Much like the glow of the stars but mirrored, the light shone up from the surface of the sea and towards the caves. Out in the water, a large blanket of glowing plankton and algae had arranged itself into a showy, mysterious arrangement. One that would indicate the beginning of change.

But of what change did this entail? Nobody will know for another twenty four hours. At four AM that day, there was no voice over the speakers nor an unsettling reminder of how many days were left. Instead the entire island remained eerily quiet and the gathered algae slowly lost its glow during the sunrise and dispersed itself, awaiting the change the next day.
