Chinatown (1974)

so now I know. the guy likes ostentatiously decorated sets, and the subtleness in the scenes is not really so subtle.
roman polanski's Chinatown.
I dont know why it got such a nice rating and all. nominations.
or why am i being so cynical and unappreciative of a movie so "well made" as they call it??
maybe coz someone whoz opinion I respect, and am scared of showing my thoughts to, commented on the movie as being not too nice.
so easily I get influenced.

jack nicholson being called "nosy fella"
and roman polanski being called a "midget". that was funny. not that I'm into sloppy humor, just that I wasn't expecting it at the time in this detective thriller.

rest of the movie was okay, kept me sitting infront of the tv the whole time, wanting to explore who was the killer, but certain scenes surely spoke out loud how artless they were.
