(no subject)

I'm quite glad, in a way, that the festive season is nearly over. Don't get me wrong, it's been very pleasant and all, but I'm still firmly in wedding-planning mode and finding it difficult to direct my enthusiasm elsewhere.

Christmas Eve we had a full house, as my parents and grandmother came for dinner, and my uncle and his family "popped by" to see them, and us, and the house (some of you may remember it was my Uncle from whom we bought the house). Very successful day, but was preceded by a 24-hour mammoth clean (Me? Panic?!), which has left my body clock fucked ever since. Hence I'm awake at 5am. Ugh. Crap sleep combined with PMT and wedding-dress-angst hasn't made me a fun person to be around...hence I've been a bit hermit-like the last few days.

Christmas Day started late, due to my having stayed in bed. Andrew's dad was with us for dinner, which was possibly the most ridiculously large roast Nez and I have accomplished to date, and arguably the best too. The sprouts were positively orgasmic, I kid you not :)

Pressies-wise it's been nice this year, getting several things I specifically wanted, and couple of others that I didn't realise I wanted but actually really did :) We also got a rather substantial wedding-contribution from my grandmother, which was completely unexpected and so even nicer. I've, slightly naughtily, made a unilateral decision and allocated a chunk of it for a surprise for Andrew, which I shall post about seperately when I'm done with this one :)

We had a couple of unexpected pressies too, from our guinea pig, Dee (right in userpic above, taken when she was newborn last year), who presented us with two babies last Saturday night! Pictures to follow when Andrew uploads them from our shiny new camera. It's too early to confirm their sexes, but right now they both look female to me so they're provisionally christened Niki and Jessica. Niki is rather lame, she has plenty of strength in her legs, but not a lot of control or balance - she sort of crabs along rather than the normal scurrying. It doesn't seem to be hurting her, though, nor is it holding her back when it comes to feeding, so really it's just an endearing imperfection. We suspect it was because she was rather cooped up in the womb - we had no idea that Dee was pregnant, and usually piggies show very clearly. We're still waiting for Belinda, who is enormous, to pop; amusingly her babies will be Niki and Jessica's half-siblings. Young Charlie must be feeling very pleased with himself!

To change the subject entirely, my wedding dress still doesn't fit, but Nez is taking me down to Somerset on Sunday (...sorry, tomorrow! Still in Friday mode...) to have it sorted out. I emailed her a couple of pictures and she says she could see straight away what needed fixing so she should be able to do it whilst we wait on Sunday. I'm not breathing my sigh of relief just yet, but it was certainly a weight off my mind when I got to speak to her.

I can't believe there's less than 4 weeks to go! There's so much still to do :/ Which reminds me - if anyone's reading this who is still sitting on an RSVP card, please send it back to me asap so I can finalise my seating plan!

Right then. Another post, then tea, then getting on with something useful...perhaps.
