First - thanks to everyone who donated for Sasha, the homeless woman who gave me a hand last Sunday. I have been trying to reach her - have the cash in hand, but she's not answering her phone. I intended to go over to People's Park today to see if she was there with the CW gang but I overslept. :(
I had Monday off. First time I've worked in private industry and gotten MLK Day off. It was nice to see and hear of so many people doing community service (it was a flat-out gorgeous day here). Various NPR programs interviewed people who worked with Dr. King. In the context of the inauguration on Tuesday, I definitely felt that we were standing on the shoulders of giants.
Inauguration - I listened to the main events on the radio as I was driving in and just kvelled through the whole thing, except for my WTF moments during Rick Warren's part, thanks to his amazingly craptastic delivery. I'm still pretty smiley about the whole thing. Hope ... and hard work.
We had another memorial service on Wednesday. Yours truly applied her organizational talents to the kitchen, in combo with an excellent and experienced Dead Spread crew. (We have had quite a run lately. I still miss Mark, who died in August.) I have a costco card now of my very own so ran over for a tray of sandwiches.
On Friday I had my annual review. My boss rated me higher than I (Miss Perfectionist) rated myself. AND AND AND ... unlike my former job, I was not penalized for concentrating on providing thorough "dailiness"-style production support to the enterprise, at the expense of getting projects done. What an incredible relief.
I cooked a little this weekend - doctored up the leftover veggie chili, but it did involve chopping onions and browning meat. It disappeared at the church's annual meeting but I must make some more for myself Real Soon Now. (I have enjoyed my "frito pie" lunches with tortilla chips and the veggie chili.) Taking up the "bean soup for lunch" non-diet plan again sounds like a really good idea to me right now. I have also been making burgers with good ground chuck and eating them with my CSA potatoes and broccoli, which has been very satisfying.
Otherwise, I seem to be coming out of my "hole"; I feel good (and relatively chipper) and am still making verrry slow but steady progress on getting the house straightened up and decluttered.
hope and hard work,
dailiness,
