I had to add a couple of new rules to Merlinfic.co.uk this weekend because there has been some unrest. This made me sad because there has been no trouble up until now, at least not that I have been made aware of.
One of the new rules was to do with giving out personal information and I have to say I was somewhat horrified that it had been going on.
Fanfiction archives are not safe places to give out personal information like phone numbers etc. At least social networking sites have some safe guards, a shout box and a simple installation of eFiction have nothing. Anyone can see and pick up that information for their own purposes.
