Random! :D and birthdays

I'm just having breakfast and it got me thinking ... y'know these light spreads, like Flora and Olivio etc ... well I do like them, especially the ones that taste really good but lower cholesterol at the same time :) HOWEVER, I have one problem with them and I was wondering if anyone else has found the same ( Read more... )

Haha! I have the same problem with the Benecol spread I use instead of butter. It just slips right off the knife, and I end up just sort of smearing it back and forth in a neverending "Z" or "S" formation to get the bread covered.

LOL! Random post is really random!

I'm partial to those spreads, myself, though I prefer the ones that actually taste like butter. I've never had that problem, though. Maybe because I seldom spread it all the way to the edges of the bread? I just love it if it quickly soaks into the hot toast. Yum!

I find I have to have almost real butter on toast; the others don't work right; they're too wet - I go for Anchor lighter spreadable :)

First thought is to ask whether you use it straight from the fridge? 'cos I think that's the only way those stay vaguely solid.

And second is do you really need to eat them? I know cholesterol is the latest thing but the last twice I've had a check up my doc has looked at the result of the blood test, offered me statins and then suggested benecol or similar. Only when I queried that did he look at the charts which show the balance between 'good' and 'bad' and other factors such as smoking. On both of those I am well in the 'green' zone i.e. very low risk for heart problems or stroke.

On the whole I prefer to eat a little butter and cook with olive or sunflower oils which haven't been so heavily processed. At least then you do know what you are eating!

Yep, straight from the fridge.

I figure it can't hurt and I like the taste of Flora pro-active. I do love my spread do if it's lighter and better for me I figure it's a win/win :)

I have to admit I'd never noticed that about spreads, but now I'm going to have to look out for it!

If you've never noticed I suggest you pretend I never said it, because one you do notice it's bloody annoying ;)

I'll go get my memory tipex!

Does that stuff work? I've tried brain bleach on occasion with varying amounts of success, but I've always wondered about the tipex. Never could write on it properly afterwards when doing essays at school ;)
