I'm having a meh Monday morning. I'm trying to write my original stuff, but the muses are being bitches. Everything I type seems to be ... well ... meh! So in an effort to get the juices flowing I've decided to exercise the ole writing muscles, with your help if you're willing.

Merlin always knew when he found Arthur again. That familiar sensation would start in his belly and move through his entire chest. It was what Gaius would have called a bad case of the collywobbles. He always knew when Arthur was born and then, when Arthur was grown and the time was right, he would find himself pulled towards where Arthur was, but it was always the internal butterflies that told him he'd found what he was looking for.
He scanned the field seeking that familiar shock of golden hair. When his eyes found it Arthur was laughing and Merlin's gaze immediately slipped to the dark haired young man next to his king. His heart skipped a beat as he caught sight of a younger version of himself.
This had never happened before. Always he was cursed to remain in a body that looked old, but could never die, while Arthur was young, never living long enough to become grey like he was. They had had one lifetime together, their first, and then they had always been separated by the divide of age. Arthur always remembered, but it was never the same.
This was different. This was new.
Walking quickly Merlin crossed the distance to where Arthur and this other version of himself were sitting. For a moment they didn't see him and he had a chance to just observe them.
"Col, you are insane," Arthur said, still laughing, "one day a fan is going to run off with you and lock you in their spare room."
It was as Col went to reply that the young man looked up and Merlin met his eyes. The fluttering in Merlin's stomach became a raging torrent of chaos as their gazes locked and he heard Col gasp. It was as if his body was disintegrating from the inside out, but he could not stop it and he could not look away. He felt his form breaking down and all he could do was stand there and stare into eyes identical to his own. Yet it did not feel like the end.
As his flesh scattered to the winds his mind blanked out for just as second and then he was sitting on the ground staring up at where he had been. A new life added itself to his memories and he blinked at Bradley in shock. He had never done this, not like Arthur had. He had always been Merlin, but now he was Colin who was also Merlin. It was amazing.
He laughed as he realised he was an actor who played himself and he looked at Arthur/Bradley, joy radiating through his being.
"Col?" Bradley asked hesitantly. "Did you just see that?"
"Oh yes, Arthur," he said, smiling brightly, "I saw that. Now it's time you remembered."
Usually he could make Arthur remember his past lives with a simple touch, but this time he didn't want to. This time knelt up, leant in and placed a kiss right on Bradley's lips.
There would be danger, there would be intrigue, but they were both young again; there were nothing the world could throw at them that they could not face.

And I love it when Arthur, Merlin, Bradley and Colin all get merged into one.
