One Hump Day Later, a Pupdate

Jan 18, 2006 09:02

It's been a week and a day since the surgery and Barnum's doing very well indeed. All the bright pink is gone from around the edges of the incision, back to proper puppy-flesh color. He's still not keen on the e-collar--who can blame him?--but he's discovered the padding can make a decent pillow, which seems to mitigate the indignity of wearing it. He's also managed to smack me with it a couple of times, and while I can't imagine it was intentional I accept that I do deserve it, to a certain extent.

Six more days of being the Paisely-Patterned Flower Child. Then it's all back to normal. The e-collar comes off, the stitches come out, and he can join us on walks again. I'd been taking him out with us for the past couple of days, walking him on a leash, but I've stopped since being reminded Barnum's not fully healed yet. Too soon, too soon.

We're both shut-ins, my boy and I, but not for much longer. It ends this week for me. Two clients wrapped up with a bow, and (hopefully) a third by the end of the month so I may begin working for a fourth client come the start of February. 2006, please keep this up, I'm digging it. I'm feeling ready to fight for a banner year.

Relaxationamazation is still on for March, updating the web site (rather, supplying preyfar with the files to update my site and such), writing, doing some much-needed personal art, finishing some long-overdue trades, getting back into the swing of things with the Raptorfolio, hanging out with friends, figure drawing, sketching at the zoo and aquarium, going on fresh Doggie Adventures with beadyo and having Lady beerhorse over for a visit. It may sound like a lot, but considering the fact that I'd done nothing else but work for the past few months, I'm set for some hardcore goofing off.

Barnum, bless his heart, will get there sooner'n me.
