Conquered the Ikea cabinet!
Well, it's been a while since I added anything to this LJ, but I think we finally have a happening in my life that warrants an entry: I conquered the Ikea cabinet! I bought myself a TV cabinet today, to put a TV on and to store the DVD player, as well as my little server PC and the ADSL modem and the router. I just finished putting it together, while Tric was taking a nap. Of course, when I started to move the equipment into the cabinet, I forgot that it would disconnect my PC from the internet, so I lost contact with Tric's webcam and audio. >.< Silly me... Don't want to wake her up, so I won't contact her for now, I'll just wait till she wakes up on her own and contacts me.
Oh, minor detail: I also bought a TV and a DVD player to go with the cabinet (didn't have any of those yet). TV should arrive later this week, DVD is already sitting here in its box. Maybe I'll unpack it, maybe I'll wait till the TV's here. But it's shiny and geeky, as it also plays DivX, so I'll probably end up unpacking it anyway - even though it's totally useless until the TV arrives. I guess I'm just silly like that.
Hmm, for the rest, a little general update on my life as it is now. First work: I seem to finally have found the bug in the code, that's been bothering me for a while now. I'll probably have to rerun a number of simulations now, but that's ok. Hopefully we can start writing the article soon.
As for the rest of my life? That revolves around a single person: Tric. Whenever we can, we talk over the webcam, or at least chat over irc. I really look forward to those talks, even though they can be a bit frustrating; so close, yet so far away. I can't wait till she's visiting in May, that will be great. But for now, I'm just very very glad there exists such a thing as a webcam.
