I saw my new doctor the other day, surprisingly, everything went without a hitch. They checked on my lungs, and found an obstruction, caused by inflammation and mucus. Given that said mucus was runny and clear, it seemed to rule out a lung infection, and point to an allergy (She still gave me a prescription for an antibiotic just in case the mucus changed color.) Strangely, they didn't do any bloodwork, possibly because I hadn't gotten my insurance card yet, so I would have to pay out of pocket, or wait until my card came in, either way, they wanted to cut the lab out to save time and money (at least, I assume so.) They had me breathe in a medical mist of some sort for 15 minutes or so, and it left me feeling a whole lot better. My doctor handed me a couple of prescriptions, for two inhalers, Albuterol and Flovent.

Well, it turns out the Albuterol was $25 bucks, no big deal...but the Flovent was over 200 dollars...to which I looked at the pharmacist and said, "No way in hell." After another rough night, now with rapid breathing and this odd feeling in my stomach (side effects of the Albuterol) I got my insurance card in the mail, and went directly to the pharmacy to pick up the other drug. As it turns out, my insurance doesn't cover medication, instead I get a discount card...and that took a whopping $12 off the price tag...whoopie. However, I wanted to get this over quickly, and the idea of having nothing but Albuterol to help me, wasn't a cheery thought. So, I bought the flovent, and as it turns out...it's actually helping.

I'm still short of breath, but I no longer have that feeling of imminent suffocation as I had before.
