Homeownership woes

Apr 20, 2011 08:41

Had an adventure on Saturday, but $500.00 and five hours later I had working plumbing again. (Bad clog + vigorous plunging = busted seals. Oops!) I haven’t yet thrown out all the stuff in the basement that got destroyed. The plumbers were very efficient.

Other than that, though, it was a lovely weekend! Got to spend lots of time with darling plumtreeblossomRead more... )

I'm so glad it turned out to be a fairly easy fix, my love! *kiss*

Might I suggest you invest in a snake for those hard to get clogs?

Thanks! I actually have a snake (whether I could have found it was another question), but given where this clog was and the size of the pipe, I don’t think the snake would have reached it, or been able to break through rather than just curling up inside the pipe if it had. And when I discovered the rain in the basement, of course, I needed to call plumbers anyway.

Second the snake idea.
Didn't know old seals would
give way that quickly.
Sorry to hear about another
installment in the joys of
home ownership.

Thanks! I don’t know about “that quickly”, it had been a little prone to minor leakage since I bought the house, and I have no idea how old the wax ring was. (The sewer pipe itself is old enough that the joints are sealed with rope soaked in tar.)

Shoooot! And with so many nice ways one might spend a week-end.

Shoooot! . . .

That was me. It wasn't supposed to be anonymous. LJ just signs me out from time to time.
