Dry, by Augusten Burroughs, is a memoir. It is the sequel to his first memoir, Running with Scissors, soon to be a major motion picture. Dry is edgier than Running with Scissors and deals with some large issues including his journey to sobriety, the death of his best friend, and a boy friend addicted to crack rock. Burroughs shamelessly exposes his raw emotions and let us feast on the meat of his tormented, yet delicate life.
Happy Feet, I enjoyed, but disapproved the fact that the sneak a serious, environmental message in at the end. The animation is spectacular (probably the best I have seen from an animated movie) and the characters are delightful. The story line is intriguing and light until the end. Lots of funny parts that had me thinking of it for several days. I still want to see it again, actually.
Don't get me wrong, I like environmental messages, but this was really blatant in a kids movie. Was Fern Gully this blatant? It might have been. Kids may need that.
