[for ray__k]

After obtaining Inspector Thatcher's grudging consent, Fraser set out fresh water for Diefenbaker and changed into his street clothes before heading out the door to wait for Ray. Standing just outside the gate, in the usual denim, flannel and leather, he felt a bit like he was loitering, but the uniform simply wouldn't be at all appropriate for the ( Read more... )

Do not leer, he lectured himself as he pulled the GTO up to the Consulate and turned it off. Do not stare. Turning sideways in his seat, all he could really see was denim anyway, so he grinned and leered from the safety of the car where Fraser couldn't see what he was doing.

"Don't you ever get warm in that?" he asked, getting out of the car and gesturing at the flannel and leather. "It's hot. The weather," he added, smirking.

Fraser raised an eyebrow and returned the smirk, then squinted up at the sky from under the brim of his hat like he couldn't even feel the sun and had to make sure it was there. It was nearly setting, anyway.

"I'm quite fine, thank you."

He pushed his hands into his pockets to keep himself from touching Ray. "I thought we might stop by to pick up Diefenbaker on our way back," he added quietly as Ray approached. "Understandably he preferred to, ah... to leave us to it."

"Yeah, we can swing by and get him, no problem," he said, coming around the car. Dangling the keys from his finger, Ray held them out to Fraser and shook them back and forth.

"You look good," he said quietly, as he waited for Fraser to take the keys, then he glanced at the building behind Fraser. He could kiss Fraser now, no one was watching, no one would even notice. Well, except the wolf, whose head had just appeared in a window.

"As do you." He bit his lip to keep the grin from splitting his head open as he reached for the keys, letting his hand touch Ray's more and longer than was genuinely necessary. "Thank you kindly."

"Your wolf is a nosy parker," he said, nodding toward the Consulate and stepping just a touch closer to Fraser as he handed off the keys. "Turns out the Ice Queen is too," he added as the cutain over the window was pulled back.

It was one of Diefenbaker's defining traits and surprised Fraser not a bit, but upon the second statement he felt a sharp prickle of irritation. Of defiance. He stepped closer to Ray, a little too close.

"Accident," he explained, still leaning forward. "Slipped," he added, before brushing his lips very briefly against Ray's.

"Whoops," he murmured against Fraser's mouth, then his hand went to the back of Fraser's head and held him there a moment longer. He broke the kiss, grinning, his hand sliding down to the back of Fraser's neck and he couldn't help but glance toward the window. The curtain was back in place, although he could still see Diefenbaker's ears.

Smiling, he stepped back, and spun the key ring smugly around his finger. He didn't bother to look over her shoulder for a reaction; if one was coming, it would come soon enough. "Shall we?" he said simply, cocking his head towards the car.

"Let's rock and roll," he said and dropped his hand from Fraser's neck. He went to go around to the driver's side before remembering that he had given Fraser the keys and that he didn't get to drive tonight.

"Right, passenger tonight. I forgot."

Fraser opened the passenger door and held it graciously for Ray. "You're sure you're comfortable with this, Ray?" he asked, a challenge in his smile.

"I am good, Fraser," he replied, getting into the car and ignoring that smile. "I'm thinkin' about lascivious acts. Works real good."

It became a downright unsettling grin and he cracked his neck soundly, and pushed Ray's door shut. He strode around to the driver's side and slid in, setting his hat on the dashboard in front of Ray. There was a few inches' difference between Ray and himself and he found he was cramped a bit too close to the steering wheel.

"I'm afraid I'll have to adjust the driver's seat," he said with all due solemnity.

Ray Vecchio? Had had very strong feelings about seat adjustments.

"Uh, yeah, go for it." Lascivious acts and Fraser being at the apartment all the time... that's all he had to remember.

"But.. gently," he couldn't help adding.

He reached for the appropriate lever and adjusted the seat with all possible care. When nothing exploded as a result, his smile returned and he fastened his safety belt.

"And away we go," he said brightly, starting the car and pulling cautiously out of Ray's parking space.

It would be fine. The car would be fine. Ray knew this, yet he still had the overwhelming desire to crush the brim of the Stetson in his hands like Fraser always did when he was nervous. Asking Fraser if he could squish his hat while he was driving the GTO was probably a bad idea, though, so Ray just dug his nails into his palms instead.

"How far are we goin', Frase?" he asked, giving his palms a break by nervously rubbing his thighs instead.

Fraser could still see the Consulate in his mirrors. Perhaps he had asked too much, too soon.

He smiled mildly, keeping his eyes on the road.

"The moment we stop, you'll be getting your lascivious act all over the hood of the car. So you just tell me when, Ray."
