More pool drama and politics. I'm not going to divulge any more than that. Basically, a bunch of us had a large anvil dropped on our heads.
Anna mailed off our registration form to ride with the Dykes on Bikes in SF's Pride Parade. Our plan is to go as Danny and Sandy from Grease. I need to find a cheap faux leather jacket that I can paint a T-Bird on and a tub of gel for my hair. And douche-looking aviators. Anna's going to have a challenge in perming and teasing her hair into that crazy do.
Today, during our in-service lunch break, I finally met Kate, a girl I met online. We went to La Farine, a French bakery across from Farmer Joe's in Fruitvale. I ate a really, really good chocolate croissant. Yummy. We talked and laughed a lot. If she hadn't checked the time, I probably wouldn't have remembered to return to the pool. We've been emailing each other for the past few months and only recently discovered that we're both Millsbians (well, I'm technically a former Millsbian), so it was nice knowing we connected without that Mills string. She was enrolled in the Middlebury French program, but decided against it after only a couple of days. Sadly, she lives too far away for more frequent get-togethers. Still, I'm glad this online Mills woman isn't crazy. Best part is that she's cuter in person.
Tomorrow's another big in-service day and there's much to do before Sunday:
- put in more yard work hours
- finish up in-service week
- shop for Dykes on Bikes costume
- hang out with Alyssa before she returns to Scotland
- plan the next lifeguarding class, which starts on Monday
- call Kate
