I've had a LiveJournal for almost eight years now. I've given them hundreds of dollars, made thousands of posts and tens of thousands of comments, helped out in Support, brought in new users, created alternate journals and multiple communities, and generally made it my home on the internet, the base from which all my other online activities extend ( Read more... )

ps. this is the dreamwidth post

I'm really excited for that as well! I may or may not be counting down the days with glitterdemon.

Well, my friendslist is still primarily over here. Otherwise, though, I'm sold.

They're still in beta, obviously, but the end goal of DW is for you to be able to post to your LJ and read your flist, including locked posts, from DW, and for LJ peeps to be able to comment on you (they've basically expanded LJ's OpenId, it's great.)

I'll follow. I like dreamwidth. None of the many, many irritating things lj has done were really major enough issues for me - back when insanejournal started getting attention I made an account there but never ended up using it, mostly because I'm really here for my friendslist. I can write anywhere, my friendslist is my ticket to not having a bookmarks list as long as my arm!

If I really can follow my flist over there, though, I'll definitely switch as soon as I can get an invite code. Or, I guess, as soon as I figure out how to pay for things over the internet...

PS what are your feelings on OTW? By some coincidence I am ljfollowing people involved in creating both that and dreamwidth (for like unrelated reasons. fanfic you know) and the two kept popping up in succession : for a while I thought they were related, but it seems to be a sort of parallel evolution.

I had not heard of OTW until this comment! I completely am used to "OTL" as an emoticon for a kneeling man (like "orz") and spent some time trying to work out just what he was doing in this particular version. Transformative Works, you say! Sounds interesting, but I don't know enough to say more.

Lol! Myes it seems to be doing well. It's basically aimed at having a fandom archive where fandom people actually have control of the servers and stuff and are organised to protect them from dodgy legal maneouvres et al, as far as I can tell.
