I'm currently in the cleanroom babysitting something called an "e-beam evaporator" while it takes an obscenely long time to get ready. I'm killing the time by playing on the internet and reading various news sites, like the New York Times.
I don't know how many of you know this but the NY Times website has a feature where if you double click a word a window with the definition and pronunciation pops up. Now, I'm one of those people who tend to highlight the paragraph that I'm reading, as much to keep my hands busy while I read as anything else, but this means that I also tend to double click on the text a lot. Basically this window pops up a lot when I read the NY Times. But for some reason it's always words like "the," or "is," or "that," never the big words in the sentence. Maybe it's just coincidence or statistics, but I'm pretty sure that it's really because the New York Times thinks I'm an idiot.
