Nov 26, 2011 11:59

So.. um, I have a question for everyone. How do you catch something that doesn't want to be caught? I mean, this little guy has been following me for several days now and he runs away every time one of my pokemon come near or he sees a pokeball. And um, We really don't want to be put to sleep or paralyzed anymore ( Read more... )

[That's a new one on Harry. He's had Pokemon not leave him alone before, but only when they were attacking. The little blue onion-stalker didn't seem all that hostile.]

Do you want to capture it, or get it to leave you alone?

You know, I'm not really sure. He's been following us for a while now so does that mean he wants to be captured?

[Harry has enough trouble figuring out what his OWN Pokemon are thinking, never mind a wild one.]

The fear of Pokeballs says no, but if it's still following you... maybe?

[Doesn't mean he won't bumble through a round of armchair psychologist take a shot at it, though.]

Could try getting it to come closer with food. Like bribing an Ewok with a cookie.

Huh? What's an Ewok? Is that some sort of pokemon?

[She looks confused for a few moments as she tries to think of what he could mean before a lightbulb turns on. A very dim one, but its there.]

Oh! You mean like with Carrots? Maybe that's what it wants, food! I wonder what it eats. I mean, I think its a plant type and um.. what's it called? Oh I was just reading about this!

...So what do you feed a plant type?

[That's... not a bad description of the Ewoks, actually.]

Uh- not a bad question, actually.

[Harry Dresden, master Pokemon trainer.]

Berries , I guess?

[Mihoshi nods sagely.]

I guess that makes sense but wouldn't that be like cannibalism? I mean if its a plant type, then um, does it really eat other plants?

[Harry's not sure he's actually seen his grass-type eat at all, now that he thinks of it.]

I wouldn't think so, unless there's some type of berry that grows into a walking blue onion-thing.

Well I wouldn't know anything about that. But, why don't we stay away from berries? Because he kind of looks like one and I would hate to feed him a relative, you know?

So what about something sweet? Oh! Or what about water? I mean, we're always watering the carrots back home so plants must like water right?

I just don't want the little guy to get hurt! I mean the city is a dangerous place for someone all alone!

Most of the Pokemon I've seen have been pretty dangerous too, alone or not.

[Well, his Hoppip doesn't seem too dangerous, but that might just be him. Little guy's pretty laid back.]

Water might not be a bad idea. Maybe, I dunno, sugar water? Honey or something? Hang on-

[Harry rummages in his bag offscreen for a moment, and there's a familiar flash of light from a Pokeball opening. The Hoppip in question appears with Harry.]

Whaddya think Campbell, you guys like sugar-water or something?

Pi!

...I have no idea what that means.

Hop-pip.

[She giggles softly as she watches them.]

I think that was a yes! I'll try and get some sugar water and see of that works I guess.

So um, thanks! OH! Silly me, Um, I'm Mihoshi, thank you for your help!

You're welcome, I suppose.

[He's not sure he actually managed to do anything here. Months in Johto and the capturing thing and how it affects a Pokemon's mood still confuses the hell out of him.]

Harry Dresden.
