(no subject)
well its been 5 days since i started the new job and so far so good. I'm learning lots of new things, pay roll,no sales, negatives, attendance, locking up, refunds etc Some of it i've dabbled in before a lot of it is new but gladly most of it is going in.
The staff are nice and friendly, though i sometimes have trouble understanding the accent. And i am so happy to be in retail again, i really missed serving customers. Plus its good to be out of the house.
Its not perfect though twice the supposed 40 minute train journey has taken 2 hours and i just found out that theres no trains there on a sunday :-( So it will be an hours bus journey every sunday instead, and, as bus journeys make me travel sick, i will be persevering with the trains. just gotta get 1st pay check soon so i can start lessons, either that or work harder at getting sam to come driving with me.
the other downside is the store itself, the sales are poor and i'm meant to find a way to improve them. mostly its just that customers arent coming through the door and thats hard to affect. but i have noted that our full range of stock isnt out, staff are telling customers if it isnt out we dont have it (thus turning them away) and they arent pushing in store ordering as hard as they could be.
the problem is the store is so small its hard to get everything out onto the sales floor, i suggested higher shelves but the manager said it isnt possibly, i might press the issue further especially with kitchen.
hmmmm guess ive bored you all with this. good thing about the long jpurney is that i'm reading more, finished desmond morris' the naked ape yesterday which was good and i'm gonna try and get through the back log of new scientists before i start on marian greens natural witchcraft.
think thats about all i have to say, time to get up get dressed and do some housework and unpacking
