“Better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.”
I don't know who said it. I don't really care.
I DO think that they're a moron.
I know that I'll get blasted for this, but these are my thoughts on that one simple phrase.
Try it.
Love, and lose, and then we'll see.
If you never love, then you will never be hurt by it. You will never know exactly what having a million pieces of glass in your chest feels like. You'll never know how painful watching someone you love leave.
If you never love, though, you'll never experience what some call the greatest feeling ever. The feeling of absolute peace, of bliss. The feeling of completeness that comes with it.
Is it worth it to love and lose? Is it better to know that bliss and have it ripped away from you?
Or.
Is it better to save yourself the heartache, the pain, of loss?
Is it better to make sure that your heart will never be hurt?
I leave that decision up to you.
Each person makes a decision based on what they have experienced.
My decision is for the latter. It is not better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all.
If I could have saved myself the pain of loving someone and losing them, right in front of my eyes, I would have.
I would rather have not known what love is.
