She's a loser, baby!

So why don't you kill me?
Ok, this is gonna sound totally embarassing, but I have to be honest with the millions of people that read my blog everyday: I watch the Biggest Loser. There, I said it, I admitted to watching reality tv. Please pick up a stone of your choice and lob it at my melon.

I tend to dislike reality tv for a variety of reasons, primarily being that I dislike watching people argue or fight -- got enough of that as a kid, don't need to watch a lot of screaming over stupid shit. Sure, these people volunteer to be in front of the camera, I should care less, but I'm one of those "love everyone" types (in spirit if not action, cough) and would just rather see something less petty. But the Biggest Loser is interesting in that you get sucked into the trials of these people who are genuinely trying to better themselves and their loved ones by being on this show. I mean, we have people that are so overweight that they can't qualify for health insurance, and they're on this show to keep themselves from keeling over forty years too early. The results are pretty impressive, they're one of the biggest motivators for me to watch -- I like to see people happy with themselves, it in turn makes me happy. Sure, you have people who get voted off the island so-to-speak, but these people take lessons they learned with them and the show often shows them down the line having had applied those lessons -- they're thinner, happier, and much more healthy, and that a pretty cool thing.

Ok, so we're on the subject of television, migh as well throw out my opinion on this little number:

For those not in the know, this is going to be KITT in the upcoming Knight Rider series on NBC. Now, being one of the more hardcore Knight Rider fans out there (sorry, but I ate/drank/breathed this stuff as a kid), I gotta say that I'm going to miss the sleek, spaceship design of the TransAm -- 80s KITT is still in my mind as perfect an automobile design as you can get (well, maybe if he was Pontiac Firehawk model with the ram-air coolant vents on the hood, or perhaps a Lamborghini).
That being said, the current Mustang model is luckily my second-favorite automobile design -- it looks tough and sleek, so I won't bitch about the change too much. They sure as hell better keep KITT's Niles-Crane-esque personality intact though; under the hood matters just as much if not more than the paint job.
Now, as long as they keep the fun, adventurous storylines and don't turn it into an overly dramatic headache like the Bionic Woman remake... Not every revamp on tv has to be Battlestar Galactica, people.

And on a closing note of television nostalgia, let me send some props to my friend Allen for getting me the hookup with some Rifftrax -- for those of you into cult television, the MST3K crew has continued on with the glorious tradition of insulting movies for our enjoyment in the form of MP3s you play along with the  DVD of said film, and these have been making my sides split with laughter for the last couple of days (my neighbors probably think I've gone crazy). Battlefield Earth? Probably one of the best riffings out there, never before has such a horrible movie been so enjoyable to watch (although their interpretation of Fantastic Four is pretty hot too). If you like Mystery Science Theater 3000, go check this stuff out. Better to cry from laughing than from drama (there's more than enough of the latter floating out there anyway).
