the new job
you know, I think I might like this. The route is simple, then it's back to sorting cans and the like. It's fast paced, but calm. If I let myself slip into my groove, it goes quickly and seemlessly. Kinda relaxing in a way. There's none of the ego competition stuff I'm used to in the restaurants, none of the petty fighting for dominance. I just do my thing, let it flow, and it's... well, peaceful, almost zen in a way.
so I got of at 3:30. Apparently I misunderstood earlier and that's normal. Makes sense, half hour lunch break, eight hours of work a day. Also means I can run errands, which I did, and now here I am. I deposited the residue of the past couple weekends' busking, and stopped by indulgence, which is actually the reason I'm posting.
FRIDAY NIGHT I'll be playing INDOORS at INDULGENCE, on Main street in Cedar Falls. I'll go on about 7, play till 11:30 or so, and get dressed in the bathroom for my outdoor busking.I'll have CDs for sale, and amplificationso I don't need to blast my voice out. Come check it out! I think this is another one of those things where the mroe people I can get to show up, the more likely it will be a regular gig.
Speaking of which, I'm still doing the Wednesday thing at club 4th and Main. Come check that out too. It's more of a down and dirty sort of thing than I'll be doing at Indulgence; morebluew based, as opposed to the funky jazz-ish stuff I'll be doing at Indulgence.
So, either way, if you can, come check it out.
and of course, regular busking on Saturday.
Also, I've been asked to audition to be the front man of a currently forming group. It'll be strange; they've already got a very competent guitarist. They'll want me to just sing. Covers, some original stuff which I'll probably need to scrape together lyrics for, could be fun. The big thing is that these guys are already prominent local musicians; they've got fans. There will be people showing up at the shows. Let it be known that I also do a solo singer/songwriter thing, and they may start coming to see me too. I don't know.
I'm going to go start cleaning before picking my roommate up from work.
