Postdated Post about the Korean Medical Students

The Korean Students that helped us when I was in Korea last summer finally left.  I had not had a chance to write about them, but my buddy from last summer came to hang.  Her name is Ah-Young and we had a ball.  It was strange to show them how New York was compared to what they were used to in Suwon.  The two places are simply hard to compare since there's clearly a lack of a night life here.

Some of them didn't seem that happy to be here, but I think going out to NYC every weekend helped with their culture shock.  For many of them, it wasn't their first chance to come to the US, but I think it was their first time to practice medicine.  From my interactions with a few of the students I learned a great doctor is leaving my school.  In fact, he was one of the few I really wanted to get to know and in a field I wanted to pursue.

While the departure of the students saddened me, the physicians decision to leave our teaching hospital bothered me more.  Maybe it's just my experience, but it seems a lot of faculty members that many of the students liked are leaving our medical school.  There's still a huge bullpen of great docs who are willing to teach, for which I'm very thankful for.

El is coming back from the city this weekend to see me, unfortunately I have another 24 hours at Labor and Delivery.  I'm going to have dinner with on Friday night and an early brunch on Sunday.  I am looking forward to the weekend for the little time I get to spend with her.  You know, for once I have had this change in perspective about relationships.  It's hard to describe, but it's strange to feel like you desperately want something to work out for once and this is it.  And finally, I'm willing to do anything to make it work.

I settled on an iPhone, here comes warrantless wiretapping.  I'm such a yuppy and I kind of wish I got a macbook too.
