Well it started out lazy enough, and then I just couldn't stand the rest of the boxes anymore. I am almost completely box free downstairs, you would think being experienced at this I could have had it completed faster, but in reality when Matt hasn't been home I am taking things we didn't miss while they were boxed up and sending them to Goodwill. Shhh. :) We have so many useless items, things that we used once or twice and then no one ever touches them again. I don't have the patience for a garage sale, so Goodwill it is!
Matt hasn't really been home this weekend, the advance party is gearing up to deploy again, so he has been a busy man for the last two days. He was out til 2:30AM last night and gone at 5:00AM this morning. It made for a rather lonely weekend. I like having him to talk to on the weekends, and it also reminded me how lucky I really am that he is here and staying this deployment. I've been watching friends struggle with their emotions as they get ready to send their husbands off again. I don't think I could do it again. Not one bit. I send very good thoughts and prayers with the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, I hope this deployment goes by quickly and without incident.
Matt has only briefly mentioned that he would be on possible KIA notification duty. He mentioned it only long enough to tell me he would break down if he had to tell someone their spouse was dead. I wouldn't be able to do that either. I have a very good friend whose husband was killed last deployment, it has been two years since his death. When she told me she was a part of the classes they give to the rear detachment people I was amazed, I admire her courage. She had told me to warn Matt they had spouses of soldiers killed in action come and talk to them about their notification process. Matt is very uncomfortable with death. Where as I see it as the next step of the journey, I believe it frightens Matt. Don't get me wrong I have no plans of dying soon, but I am OK with the actual idea of losing my body, and my soul carrying on.
I did manage to go get curtain rods today, the windows in the house are much larger. So I found curtain rods at Ross, eleven bucks! I also found living room curtains. They look pretty hotel drape like, but, I like being able to make the room really dark for movie watching! And they were quite the deal! I also spent a good portion of the morning cleaning toilets and sinks and tubs. Thankfully the house was pretty clean so maintaining isn't an issue. Now to just finish throwing things away......
