"It Was A Very Good Day..."

If anyone knows what song that title is a reference to, they can post it here and win . . . a cookie!

Yeah, so anyways, I got a lot of shit done today. I got up at 9:30 (early for me) and ordered the reeds I'll need for the rest of the year. Then, I went to the Music Department Counseling Office and got permission to enroll in 20 units this quarter. Actually, I might be taking 20 all year long. That would be pretty sweet, just to make sure I graduate on time.

Then, after a boring Music History lecture and a fun Music Theory section, I talked with the T.A., Adam Waite, about composition and about jazz improvisation (two not-so-unrelated-as-you-might-think topics). He's a really cool guy. He's a graduate student in, I beleieve, composition. But he doesn't act like he's too good for undergrads. So, he gave me a bunch of advice on how to go about things, and I think it will help.

After that, I went to Ackerman to buy the books for my Music History class, which just came in. While I was there, I forgot to do three other things on my agenda (d'oh!) I was going to get a haircut, buy running shoes, and order checks through the university credit Union. Oh well, I have more days in the week.

Now, I just found out that Jazz Band is on Thursday nights, not Tuesday nights, as I had earlier presumed. So, I can go to all of the floor Government training tonight without worrying about missing class. Also, it gives me enough time to find a baritone saxophone for the band.

On a side note: Emile and I are writing a musical together, but we're short on ideas. If you have any ideas, as outlandish as they may be (in fact, the more outlandish, the better) please post them here or send to bdraper@ucla.edu We could really use the help.

On yet another side note: If you have a DJing set-up (i.e. two turntables and a mixer as well as all of the accessories)that you want to sell fairly cheap, let me know here or again at bdraper@ucla.edu I may be getting into mixing :-)
