Seriously, i've heard talk about how you go to schools and that particular one just clicks. Johnson and Wales clicked for me. It is so perfect. I'm 90 % sure that i'm going to go there. It has everything that i want, everything that i've been looking for. Its layed back, moreso than Culinary Institute of America, and the people there that i met, were just so awesome.
My mom and i went, and we were the only family on tour that day, so we got to sit with the admissions person and talk to her about everything. I got all my questions answered without the embarrassment of asking them in front of everyone. And my mom couldn't walk around on the tour with me, so it was me and this guy, so i got to ask him questions like "are there a lot of parties that go on" and stuff like that. it was so cool.
Its got academic classes, perfect for me because i have been looking for a school with culinary, that doesn't just do culinary. So i get to continue on with math sceince and english. I just didn't want to base my life on culinary, even though thats what i want to focus on, i want continuing education. and this place lets me do that! CIA doesn't! And the grades that i have received benefit me too, and even when i'm there, if i do well, they will give me money. They want to see me succeed!
They also have a rec center, its got pool tables, and a movie thing that plays all the new movies, and each week, they have a comedy act, and a local band play. ahh i love it. and get this! dave matthews, the wallflowers, mighty mighty bostones, Ziggy Marley, The Violent Femmes, Wyclef Jean, and George Carlin have all performed there!
And you learn so much things about culinary. He showed me around the kitchens and there is just so much stuff he listed off, i really loved everything he said. I am in love with my job, seriously it is probably the best place that a person like me could be, and i love everyone there. I really think that going to a place like this will be perfect because i've had experience at the exact type of things that they do there, and i think that the way i interact with people at my job is going to really help me to make freinds at school.
Also, as Calijess said to me, they care so much about their students.
CalijessJWU08 (01:32:39 PM): but thats fine with me because that means i get a job and the kid graduating from harvard doesn't because no one at harvard gives a shit what their employment rate is because they're harvard
somewhere from 90-98 percent of graduates get a job in the 60 days after their graduation day. And its such a big industry. And if i want, i can double major, first culinary arts so i will have the skill of making foods, and then major in entrepreneurship, where i can learn now to start my own restaurant, which is one of the things i really really want to do. but they will shape me into exactly what i want to do. and i can transferr to any of the other schools, if i want to do something that say denver has, but RI doesn't.
And there is an internship, where i have three choices, one is to stay and work at one of the hotels on campus, one is to go somewhere in the country, and one is to go outside the country. I really really really really really want to go to Italy. i have always, and this offers it. this place has so many connections, i could go anywhere in the world.
The biggest downside is that no matter what, i get a 4 person dorm room. which isn't too bad. I get to have a car on campus, which is a plus.
and theres a 4 day week! which i really really like, even though as erica said, a lot of colleges don't have classes on friday. still i'm excited.
You have to wear a uniform, which is kind of cool, but kind of not cool at the same time.
hmmmm nothing much more to say. This is definately the school for me. I am so so happy! ahhh i feel so great about this. so great!!!!!
