Kyuhyun stretched his legs underneath the desk, and his long arms upwards at the same time as soon as the final lecture for today’s session ended. His eyes were roaming around the hall to find Donghae, yet the said guy wasn’t there. He didn't come to today’s class, too.
“He’s at the hospital, by Hyukjae’s side. Even if he came, I don't think his heart would be here.”
Kyuhyun nodded. As Sungmin sat down on the empty seat next to him, he traced the latter’s face in silence. The smooth skin, the nicely shaped jawline, the lips that are always red; Kyuhyun suddenly remembered how Sungmin was so gentle in comforting him last night. He wanted to touch Sungmin. He wanted to put his hands onto Sungmin’s body. He wanted to know who Sungmin was. He wanted to know how Sungmin became a Death God. He wanted to know if Sungmin still got himself any living relatives.
Kyuhyun was simply curious about knowing Sungmin. All of Sungmin.
***
He didn't know what the hell he was doing. Why would he comfort someone like Kyuhyun? Kyuhyun is going to die in his hand sooner or later, why would he even care about his client? That was not on the list of what a Death God supposed to do.
His chest was hurt once he left Kyuhyun to sleep last night. The latter fell asleep in his arms, and he supposed to let Kyuhyun be the way he was, yet he just didn't have the heart to do that. And his chest was hurting, so much. He knew this is wrong.
He shouldn’t grow a heart. Because he mustn’t has a heart. A certified Death God shouldn’t have a heart. Because once they’re attached to an organ that will beat in their chest just to make sure they’re alive, they are not immortal anymore. He must stop the slowly growing organ in his heart. Because this is wrong. Or he will end up like Siwon. Being controlled by lust just like when they were human once again.
“Sungmin!”
“Ye -yeah?” Kyuhyun snapped his fingers in front of his face, and then looked around the empty class, making sure that no one saw him talking to Sungmin, or else it would mean that he was talking to himself.
“Are you okay? I didn't know a Death God would be indulged in a daydream too.” Smirk. Sungmin rolled his eyes to side. ‘And I thought I was growing a heart once again because of this human?’
“Sorry, I was thinking about something else just now. What do you want?”
“I want to know more about Nameless Zone. What is that place?”
Sungmin sighed, and prepared to tell Kyuhyun everything that he knew about the place.
***
“When you are officially dead, there will be two places that will accept your soul. First, the Heaven; then, the Nameless Zone. Souls goes to Heaven for a judgement whether they are good enough when they were alive to stay in there, or should they be punished in Hell underneath. And if the Heaven finds out that you still have a few attachments left on Earth, you can't proceed to either of these places.
Nameless Zone is a world, almost similar to Earth, yet it isn’t. There is no such thing as night time in there, and people don't feel tired at all. And no, when I said not tired at all, I didn't mean it in a good way. Sleepiness, tiredness, things that always annoys you about yourself is actually heavenly pleasures, and once you’re deprived from it, you don't have anything else to do, unless you finished what you started in your previous life. It’s a smooth yet the most devilish way to force the souls of the dead to finish their tasks.
A sad mother, a failing brother, an unfinished debt, a frustrated lover. Every single thing that chains you to the world must be finished, or else you will be stuck forever in this place, and your soul will suffer...”
Kyuhyun put his palm near Sungmin’s face, and that stopped the Death God from talking.
“Why would a soul suffered when they actually had what they want when they’re alive? Humans love it when they don’t feel tired, because they can finish everything in a shorter time, right?” Sungmin shook his head, and floated until his rear end was at the same level with Kyuhyun’s ears. And Kyuhyun saw his sexy butt.
“You said that because you haven’t experienced anything like that before. I did. And it was not a good thing, I tell you. After a few while, you will feel lost. Like there’s nothing worth for you to exist for.”
Kyuhyun took a deep breath, and gave a thought to Sungmin’s explanation. Then Nameless Zone is not a really good place. But Hyukjae is there.
“Still, we need to save Hyukjae.”
***
“Why are you here in the first place, Ryeowook?”
“Because I’m dead?” Hyukjae smacked his shoulder, before Ryeowook laughed and took his hand, taking him on a stroll around the place. Hyukjae sighed. The place where he was standing was so much like Earth, yet too far from it. The people, the houses, the landscape are just as green.
"I'm waiting for a certain someone to figure out that I'm already gone, and make sure that he is ready to move on. Only then I can get away from here."
"Figure out? What do you mean?"
Ryeowook turned to face him, smiling, yet Hyukjae knew that the small guy next to him was sad. His eyes exposed everything like a clear water.
"I was murdered, and they still didn't found my body until now."
***
The drip was too audible to ears when it was only the two of them in the room. Donghae smiled weakly, and reached Hyukjae’s hand, rubbing his rough palm against the soft skins. “I don't know what your intention was, and I know this is too selfish, but hope you were thinking about me when you made it.”
Donghae said no to Hyuna. A clear, without any stuttered voice, big NO. And when Hyuna asked him why, he answered, “Because of Hyukjae.”
Hyuna asked him again, why? And he said, “because of Hyukjae.”
Hyuna pulled his shirt at the back, crying, and asked him for the third time, why?
And he turned to face the crying girl. No he won't feel guilty saying it like this.
“Because I love your brother. Because I have been in love with him from the moment I saw him. Because you’re not him, and because I love a man. That’s why I can't love you.”
Hyuna slapped him. He knew the girl was hurt. And ashamed. And he knew it, that if Hyukjae could hear him, he would be angry at him for making his sister cried.
“Sorry, Hyukjae. But I guess you’re worth the pain.”
The door was pushed slowly from the outside, and Kyuhyun’s luxurious shoes were the first thing that captured his eyes. Later, a floating man came through the wall, and greeted him. Kyuhyun shut the door and leaned against it. Donghae understood it so well that the rich guy didn't want anyone to interrupt their oncoming discussion.
“How is he?” Kyuhyun asked, blatantly. Donghae smiled, and stared at Hyukjae’s face for a few second, scanning the pale skin, before he answered that Hyukjae was stable for now.
A few seconds of silence, and Sungmin finally spoke.
“We want to help you to save Hyukjae.”
“Why?” Kyuhyun stood straight, and fold his arms. Donghae had to admit that he looked cool in that pose.
“Because he doesn't deserved all this. I hate it when someone needs to suffer because of someone’s lust.”
Sungmin saw a pair of dark eyes in Kyuhyun’s face. He knew it, Kyuhyun felt responsible for not letting anyone that he knew to suffer because of someone selfish like his father.
“How? I mean, Hyukjae is halfway dead, and it’s impossible for me to say that I know when I’m going to die. Even so, how am I supposed to save him?”
Kyuhyun stepped to the front, and shifted his hands into his pockets. Sungmin's expression turned dull.
“Well, I’m already on the list.”
