A True Fairytale (1/?)

A/N : I got the idea for this story plot when I was fighting about the virtual bunnies that casanova7  gave to me and *kicks* vin11lover  on Twitter a few hours ago so thanks babies *hugs*. I’m making this into a mini-series chaptered fiction.

Remember the story of the Frog Prince? How the frog helped the princess to find her golden ball from the pond, and asked her to do a few things for him, including a kiss to free him from the spell of a wicked witch?

Oh how I love the fairytale of the Frog Prince. Yet I thought it was all a fantasy, when recently, I found an old man named Henry, who told me that the Frog Prince tale was real, yet the Frog Prince in the legendary fairytale wasn’t a real prince.

He told me that what that has been told by our folks about the Frog Prince was a story that has been modified, simplified, trimmed, shifted and shortened, so that it would become a moral learning for the younger generations to not to promised anything to anyone if you are not willing to do it, yet to keep a promise will give you a good return, and repeatedly been told generations by generations, until it has lost its originality, and the true side of it.

I asked him, how did he knew about the true Frog Prince tale, yet he just smiled, and started the story with the life of a teenage prince named Kyuhyun and his loyal assistant named Donghae.

***

It all started when the Prince returned from winning his first war with Donghae by his side, only to find King Hankyung, his aging father killed by his lover, Heechul, a young-looking witch yet whose face was like a teenager, maybe younger than the Prince was.

The Prince that knew nothing rushed to his father’s inanimate body and hugged the bloody king, while looking at the witch who didn't seem to quiver a bit from what he has done. As if he was planning to do the crime since a long time ago.

“Why did you do this?? He loved you with all his heart, you bitch!”

“Why he must love me like that? It made my heart paused for a while, but I only finish what I’ve started. My aim was to rule this country, and to do that, I must kill the King. And now, that I’ve killed the King, I must finish his entire legacy, too.”

The witch smirked, lifted his left hand, and the long and pale, wicked fingers of his were emitting some faint red lights.
“I wanted to kill you, yet I am afraid that people will start to suspect me for the death of the King and his son. So I guess, this will do.”
He mouthed something that Prince Kyuhyun didn't understand, yet he knew that the spell was binding him to the ground. He wasn’t able to move, and his neck was strangled. The witch was satisfied for he was able to control the Crown Prince, yet he forgot about Donghae who was stunned by the tragedy right in front of his eyes.

“Your Highness!!”

He could hear Donghae’s scream, yet his eyes were blurred, and his body felt different. The witch turned bigger right in front of him, and Donghae was nowhere in sight.

***

He tried to open his eyes, even though it felt stinging. He could hear the chirpings of birds, he could feel the damp ground beneath him, and he could see the big tree behind him.

The tree looked familiar, like the pine tree in the palace’s secret garden. Yet it looked too big for him. He lifted his one of his hands to touch the bark of the tree, and his eyes widened when he saw something. Or realised something.

He didn't have a hand. Or should he say his hands turned into a pair of front legs that looked like they were fingerless, yet the fingers were actually thin and almost too near to each other. And he was fully covered by white and grey soft furs. He moved his head from left to right, and he saw long, white whiskers stuck out from the chubby parts under his red nose. He moved his head up and down, and up once more, and the two, long ears, which when he put under the sunlight would unveil a web of blood lines, popped out before his head.

That was when he realised, that he had become a rabbit.

***

“Croack.”

He was sitting on his short, fluffy tail, with his short, small front legs on his furry stomach, sighing nonstop about what happened to him. His two long ears, the left one was white yet the right one was black were drooping, almost covering his two black eyes which were now located at the sides of his head.

“Croack. Your Highness.”

He lifted his head up, but he could see nothing. Only a small, green toad, pumping the part underneath its neck, was looking at him from behind the bushes. And Prince Kyuhyun thought he was having a daydream about someone would actually find him there. In this condition.

“Croack. Your Highness, look over here.”

And only then he found out that it was the little toad in front of him that spoke to him just now.

“Croack. Yeah, don't give me that look, croack. It’s really me. Croack.”

“Donghae??”

The small toad nodded, and awkwardly leaping his body so that he would be nearer to his Sire.

“This is not the time to be surprised, Prince ‘Bunny’ Kyuhyun. Croack. We’re in a deep shit, croack.”

Kyuhyun looked down on earth, and he nodded slowly.

“We need to become human again, and kill that witch.”

Donghae nodded, and looked at his now - a - bunny - prince.

“Roger that. Croack.”
