Every now and then, due to either the industry I'm in, the people I know or how fast my mouth fires back, I end up in the local paper. In my 15 years of living in Portland, I've been in various local papers about 6 or 7 times. I've also had an email published on CNN Headline news although it was about my Mom for Mother's Day.
Well, once again I've managed to get myself into the current issue of Just Out (just a quote of mine.) I'm in Floyd Sklaver's "Out Going" column. Here's the excerpt:
Beat the Heat
Staying cool when summer finally arrives
by Floyd Sklaver
This year’s Pride was hot, hot, hot-literally. So now that summer finally seems to have arrived, I asked Portland’s coolest queers how they stay that way...
...The reception was certainly warm at Powell’s Books in Beaverton for legendary scribe Armistead Maupin, who spoke about his latest book, Michael Tolliver Lives, to a crowd of more than 200, including Jim Cornwall, Joshua Taylor, Todd Talarico and Collin Bounds. When asked about the heat, event coordinator Miles Mayberry said, “I get really cranky in heat over 80 degrees, so bring me a mojito and a fan.” Ben Tan recommends listening to the Religious Wrong on the radio because “they’ll send chills down your spine.”
Me and my motor mouth. Well, here's to my 15 mins of almost fame. :o)
