[for the Doctor and Mr. Darcy]

Jun 16, 2007 22:59

It had been little more than a week since Elizabeth had arrived on the island, and in that time she had been quite careful to avoid the compound as much as possible, as she knew that Mr. Darcy now lived there, and she had not yet sorted in her mind what she thought about the revelations his letter had brought. However, an afternoon thunderstorm caught her as she was out for her usual walk, and there was little choice but to take shelter in the compound until it had passed.

She thought to visit her mother while she was there, but she could not immediately find her, so she set to looking about the compound to satisfy her curiosity. There was a large room equipped with bookshelves, a pianoforte, and several other objects which she did not recognise and to which she did not immediately pay attention. She perused the bookshelf for some time, but could not find any thing that could hold her interest for very long, then sat down at the instrument and began to play. She was no better at it than she was at home, which is to say her playing was adequate but not particularly inspired; but it was enough to keep her mind occupied for the time she was obliged to stay there.

[for both the Doctor and Mr. Darcy individually, and dated to Tuesday, the 19th.]
