10 things I love about you
I'm going to start preemptively hating every new show that comes on TV in the hope that I will end up loving them as much as I love 10 Things I Hate About You because this is me, admitting I was wrong, and being glad that I was wrong.
No, it's not perfect but it gets damn close. They've addressed problems I had early on like the creepiness that is Cameron and Michael and Bianca being too shallow and while we still haven't had episode that solely consists of Patrick delivering a 20 minute monlogue, I concede that was a foolish pipedream and will just have to hope that Ethan Peck does Shakespeare at some point.
I think that the show would benefit sometimes from an extra 5 or 10 minutes as at the moment they always leave us wanting more Kat and Patrick. I did find Bianca's plots a bit boring or irritating at times but as of episode 8 I think she's adorable. It was the She's All That reference and "That'll give him time to realise HE'S FALLING IN LOVE". The actress nailed it. Really, it's just the perfect summer show: light-hearted, snappy dialogue, decent acting (great acting from Lindsey Shaw).
I think the best film to TV change has been the character of Joey. They turned him from arrogant asshole into adorably sweet. Sure he's not the brightest bulb but he really likes Bianca for who she is and he would actually be the best boyfriend ever. Every time he talks about modeling I giggle, every time he calls her "Fivehead" (she has a fivehead not a forehead) I crack up. Normally I am all about the geeky underdog but Cameron and Bianca just aren't right for each other at the moment where as Joey and Bianca are perfect in all their bubbly blond glory. Seriously, what is happening to me?
As for Kat and Patrick (whom the kids are calling "Katrick" .Oi vey. At least LoVe (back in the day when I used the term LoVe) was slightly clever) I need more. I want more. Their chemistry is excellent and now that the writer's have gotten over writing him as Jordan Catalano and have allowed him to be sarcastic, they make slightly more sense as an actual couple (I think it's still mostly about sexual attraction though). I really want to read fic about what happened at the party and what happens after they ride off into the sunset on his motorcycle (!!!) which, if we don't get a season 2 (and by god, we better get a season 2), will still be a pretty great ending.
I'm gonna go watch the finale again and make myself some icons and maybe a picspam. Watch this show you guys! And then pray for a season 2 with me.
