Dear London,

I did not move here for 35 °C weather. I moved here so that I could wear awesome coats and pretty scarves and woollen hats and knee high boots.

No love,

Ben

Shows I am no longer watching: The Secret Circle. Boooooooring.

Shows that have one more episode to get their act together: The Vampire Diaries. Aimless. Muddled. Unexciting. It's sad to see Paul Wesley step up to the plate when it's in service of a terrible story.

Shows that offer brief moments of joy, but largely disappoint me: Community. The things I found delightful:

- Troy's Georgian accent.
- Abed's obsession with Earth 2 (one of the few nicely played meta moments the show has done recently in that it didn't feel like you needed to have seen or heard of Another Earth to appreciate it.).
- Pierce was offensive but amusingly and not villainously so.
- Martin Starr as the poli-sci professor. He felt like a much better fit with the show than last week's guest stars.
- Gillian Jacob's line readings and physical comedy.
- Shirley's endorsement of Britta's choice of major.

The things that disappointed me:

- Britta's storyline. I'm guessing that this season's theme is going to be "change" but there must be a better way to set-up that someone is scared of change than to have them descend into outright cartoonishness. The storyline also didn't actually go anywhere - it was just a series of shrill gags. If the Community writers can figure out how to do a zombie episode, then surely they must be able to humorously write about someone coming to the realisation that they have moved on with their life.
- Jeff saying "Don't worry. She'll be bad at it." because of course Britta fails everything ever.
- Jeff/Annie ship teasing and also hanging a lampshade on how weird/awkward their relationship would be. It's annoying that Harmon wants to mine their chemistry while pretending that it's a dirty wrong thing that can't happen. Either do it or drop it - we've had two seasons of this.
- Again, minimal screen time for Shirley. If you're not going to give her a decent storyline then at least give her some of the jokes. And having her say that Britta looks like a streetwalker when Britta clearly doesn't really does not count.

In conclusion, the show that is the best ever: Parks and Recreation.

parks and recreation, the secret circle, the vampire diaries, community
