it's yo civic doooty
this morning
ugh
so i woke up at 7 this morning to fulfill my civic duty by reporting to the dekalb county courthouse for.......juruh dootuh.
so let's talk about the journey
i leave at about 7:30 with a mug of some skrong coffees and a mapquest printout. so i get to decatur, and although i did feel quite at home in the ghetto...i still had gat lawst. so it's 8:20 and i'm supposed to be at the cotehouse at 8. i decided to stop at the oasis that is QT for some di-rections. as i step out of my car my left leg suddenly spreads out as far left as it could go before ripping my pants and breaking my neck. yeah, someone had poured out their coffee and it had froze up and my foot had slipped in that junk! fun..yeah. so i ax the dude in the QT for directions and he tells me to go down to memorial drive....BRRRKKK!!!! next please! so i find the next contestant who admitted in extremely slurred english that he had been there "liiiike niiiine tiiiimes mayn." so after translating the directions i leave, and get lost...again! surprised anyone? sam lost somewhere in metro atlanta?? nahhhh!!
soooo finally i find the courthouse parking deck with the limited free parking (5 spaces) and make my way to the law mecca of decatur realizing as i walk that the chocolate pop tart and strong coffee was prolly a bad breakfast idea for someone with borderline ibs that has to sit in a room for about 5 hours! oops. uncomfortable? yep
security checkpoint.....after dumping out my keys i still set off the alarm. why? o....nothing much, just that i forgot to leave my knife in the car!!! here i am, armed in the dekalb county courthouse handing a weapon to the 8 foot tall security guard. i could just feel his sweaty hairy arms wrap around my neck, coaxing me to unconsciousness, but no. he just put it in an envelope and gave me a ticket to pick it back up.

needing a lil boys' room while watching a silly "this is the way the judicial branch works at the state level" video...........silly, painfully boring, and verrry uncomfortable
getting exempted from jury duty 'cause yer a full-time student again!!!!!............ummm priceless!?
yep......
i guess i'll pay for democracy some other day!
