I knew things were not going well for NBC, but now I'm just hoping the network stays afloat long enough for season 2 of Southland to air!

Wouldn't it be great if the series was sold to a cable network???? Wonder if

I haven't seen any commercials other than the ones during the reruns. Yep, NBC is using that extra month to promote, promote, promote! I'll admit I'm not watching NBC anyway, but someone would know and spread the word. Hear that silence?
I'd say that Chickie isn't the biggest draw, so who knows what went into putting that clip up, except maybe it's in her contract to have certain inclusions or it was something that didn't give away too much but functioned as a complete clip that fit the time allotment.
It's probably true that the SHERMAN/Cooper (please, some of us do not watch for Cooper, but do see him as part of a dynamic and someone in basically all of Ben's scenes) team is the top draw, so viewers would be most enticed by that.
There was a broader print campaign including Newsweek and a number of magazines, trade journals and newspapers other than the controversial L.A. Times piece that was the ad/story guise that "confused" some. I haven't seen anything in print yet, but I guess a new season rates far lower on the budget rung than a launch- even for an end-of-season replacement. I wonder what was contractually spelled out in each case and if it was waived.
Speculating about the show airing either on any of NBC's cable outlets or another network after some sort of reorganization is definitely premature. I just hope the show gets a fair shake in the here and now. NBC has to live up to a commitment of a minimum of 13 with an option for more right now, but I'm guessing Wells would know how to have his peeps get any agreement crafted to his advantage. Yeah, basically, we know nada!
