HAPPY SOON-TO-BE BIRTHDAY TRISH!!!
And now... for yesterday and today.
Kyle must have been on the phone with best-friend Josh for hours, when I decided enough was enough. The rest of us had be working while youngest son yakked and yakked. So I grabbed the back of his shirt collar with my teeth and started to drag him off like a mother kitty... until the smell hit me. "GOOD GOD KYLE! WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU SAW A BAR OF SOAP!" The rest of us gathered around and I could even hear best friend Josh cackling on the other end of the line. One and all of us concurred that Kyle did, indeed, stink.
So mildly hot water mixed with a bit of Calgon and Irish Spring was left with him to do the clean up. Upon return, the Irish Spring box hadn't even been opened, and the wash cloth remained folded!
"Hey Mom! I'm naked!" he protested.
I took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "Yeah. You came into the world that way and the doctors washed you up before I saw you!" To make a long story short...er, Daddy took over and introduced him to hygiene.
Then, the lecture. "Kyle, when you were young, your older brother went out into the freezing cold and the rain because he loves you so much he didn't want to take the chance on you getting kidnapped. I was handicapped and couldn't do it, so HE did! And how do you pay him back? You ignore him and hurt his feelings with ugly words he'd NEVER use on you! Where are you learning this?"
A guilty look answered the question. "That's what I thought. It ends here. You WILL treat your brother with respect. He didn't ask to be retarded or autistic anymore than I asked to be in a wheelchair. He LOVES you!"
Tears started falling. Real ones. So I left the two brothers to talk. When I looked in on them again they were hugging, so I'm putting "Medium Rare" away for awhile until this is resolved - and I think it will be, fairly soon.
