Yestrday I got up and it was about 10 degrees. I went to work and part way through the day the roof of the house I was working on started dripping water for about 10 minutes then it froze up again.
We went hunting for deer on a ranch then after we were finished with our job. We came up on a herd of about 50 deer around to 1,200-1,500 yards away. I drove up as close as I could until they started taking off so we jumped out and started shooting. I was aiming about 10-15 feet high over the bunches of deer that were running in hopes of winging one so I could catch up with them but I could see my bullet kicking up dirt a good hundred yards short of my goal. I tried aiming even higher but I never could get the bullet high enough. I figured I must have been shooting at least 800-1000 yards by then. We saw they were heading for cover a long way off so we jumped back in my Nissan and took off after them. I caught up with them and we were able to shoot one that was only about 300 yards off when he stopped to look back. I followed the deer up the slope several hundred yards but when I got to the top there wasn't a deer to be seen for miles around. It was so cold up there it was hard to breath. My nose got real numb too so I was glad to get back to my nice warm truck.
This morning it was about 4-degrees. We just goofed off today and I split up the rest of the firewood I had cut. It splits a lot easier when it's cold. They're predicting 20- tonight with wind. I suppose this evening I'll just get my fire roaring and hunker down and enjoy life.
So long until next time.
BTW Happy Birthday Char:D
