How to make your own mead, like Ben

This is the recipe i used in its simplest form

Ingredients:

48oz-60oz honey (depends on how sweet you want it to taste)

1 gallon water (a little less is preferred...you need to fit the mixture that includes the honey back into the 1gal water bottle.

1 package dry yeast (bread yeast works great)

you'll need:

balloons

Sewing Needle

8qt pot

cheese cloth

funnel

1gallon water bottle

big wooden spoon...

take the water and pour it into the pot....put it on the stove and let it heat until it is ready to boil....DO NOT LET IT BOIL....turn off the water right before it hits boiling. mix in the honey slowly. as the honey is being added, stir the honey into the mixture. if you let it sit, it will burn on the bottom of the pot. The honey should mix to give you a cloudy apple-juice colored substance. once you are sure you have all the honey mixed into the water, prepare your water bottle.

take a balloon and poke a hole in the top with your needle. then open up the package of yeast and pour it into the bottle. now take the funnel and put a piece of cheese cloth under it. place the funnel on top of the water bottle opening. filter the honeywater into the funnel through the cheese cloth into the water bottle. once the bottle is filled and all the honeywater has been filtered, place the balloon with the hole in it on the opening of the bottle.

if you did it right, within a day, the balloon will inflate. that means the reaction is working, and CO2 is leaving the bottle from the reaction. leave the bottle alone, untouched, for about 6 weeks or until the balloon deflates. when you're done, bust out the wooden mug and get drunk like a viking.
