West Chester

This post is for Pat.

West Chester is pretty. I love the campus. In fact, right now I'm sitting out on the quad typing this for Pat, who was not amused by my Hufflepuff discourse, but rather wants some information on collge. So, here it is.

College is pretty awesome stuff. My classes are nice and I like all of my professors. I think my favorite classes are my Honors Self awareness class  and my English class. In Honors, we're in the classroom every Tuesday and we talk abput social issues such as racism and sexism and anger and stuff. Then, on Thursdays, we meet at South Campus and have a sort of gym class where we do outrageous things that are supposed to make us more self aware. Like climbing a 14 foot wall. Without ropes or anything. We were able to get 20 people up it in half an hour. Tomorrow, I believe we're climbing stuff, but this time  we've been given harnesses, so that's a little forboding. My professors for that class are a 60 year old man who looks like he could have been a pirate (we know he was a hippy) and a 30-ish woman who is also really cool. We write them reflective journals each week about the class discussions and they write comments on them. it's a great class, and perhaps I will be more self aware by this time next semester.

English is pretty cool too.  My professor is trying to get us to like the classroom more, so we sit in a circle, and have more dialogue-based discussions about the current readings we had to do. We're reading about teaching theory, and some really boring thigs, but interesting ones as well. I just had a meeting with her over a 5,000 word research paper that we have a rough draft due for in a couple weeks. Yikes.

My other Honors class is a lecture about leadership and South Africa (cause the Honors college takes a missions trip to S.A. once every two years). This is the class that is going to kill me. It's taught by the dean of the Honors college (ironically enough his last name is Dean). He's a great speaker and very captivating, but he gives us the most work by far, and the Honors kids have started  toreally resent the homework he assigns us. The class is only once a week, but it goes from 4:15 to 7:00. He also jsut assigned us a major group project that is a huge percent of our grade, so we have that to do now as well. Like I said, we think he's trying to kill us.

Alas, that is all I can post for now, as my lappy battery is dangerously low, and if  I don't find an outlet soon, all this lovely post will be lost. So, off I go to the library to get work done. More on classes later.
