o4 untitled Blended and Blessed timestamp ficlets - Jensen/Jared - PG

A while ago I did one of these timestamp memes over at my LJ and now I finally had the time to edit the ficlets I wrote a little bit. If you're on my flist over at benitle, then this is nothing new. Though you're of course more than welcome to read them again. I just want them easily archived with my other writing. Is all.

Anyway, here's the results!

Title: o4 untitled Blended and Blessed timestamp ficlets
Author: benitle
Pairing: Jensen/Jared
Rating: PG

For wendy: set 5 years after Silence = Death (spn_j2_bigbang 2oo8 fic)

Jensen groans as he runs a hand over his face. From the corner of his eye, he sees Jared smirk at him, his eyes crinkling mischievously.

"What?" Jensen asks.

He drops the knife and abandons the task of cutting salad to turn around to Jared. Jared's grinning now, that smile from ear to ear that never fails to make Jensen feel warm on the inside.

"Nothing," Jared says as he places another glass of ice tea on the tray, next to all those others.

"Come on, man," Jensen prompts again. "What's so funny?"

"Just…" Jared pauses. He licks his lips before he crosses the short distance of their kitchen and faster than Jensen can blink, he's right in Jensen's personal space. "I just think it's cute how you're suffering through your daughter's birthday party like it's the hardest thing you've done in your life."

"I-" Jensen's sure he's doing a pretty good impression of fish outside the water with his mouth opening and closing repeatedly. "Did you just call me cute?"

Jared laughs and doesn't answer. Instead he leans against Jensen, pinning him against the kitchen counter and captures his mouth in a gentle kiss. It's soft and slow, almost as if they had all the time in the world.

"Don't fret, Jensen," Jared says with a wink. "We have to be strong. If we support each other through this truly horrendous event of a 12 year old's birthday party with all her friends at our house, we can make it through this day alive."

Jared smirks and when Jensen punches him playfully in the arm, Jared cracks up and kisses him again. It's only at the sound of someone clearing their throat that they break apart. When Jared takes a step back, moving out of sight, Jensen sees one of Sophie's friends standing on the threshold, her face flushed red.

"I- Can I," she stammers, "Can I get a glass of ice tea, please, Mr. Padalecki?"

"Sure thing," Jared beams before he walks back to the fridge. He hands her a glass and then lifts the tray, bringing it to the living room that's full of Sophie and Audrey's friends.

On his way out, he turns around to Jensen once more, whispering the words, "You be strong now."

For hunterwithcause: Jared meets Jensen's parents

"Shouldn't this be easier the second time we're doing this?" Jared asks. He nearly crushes Jensen's hand, his grip so strong that it's almost painful. After a short pause, Jared adds dejectedly, "You're out. This is supposed to be easy."

Jensen comes to a stand abruptly, eventually stopping Jared when he won't budge. When Jared looks at him, Jensen sees all those new lines of worry on his face, sees the evidence of how hard this has been for Jared.

This is exactly the kind of déjà vu Jensen never wanted to have. Ever. And even though this is different from just two months ago, it also is not. Jensen remembers all too well how much of a nervous wreck he was when he met Jared's family for the first time.

So now it's Jared and Sophie's turn and it's clearly draining for Jared. He looks tired and exhausted and it doesn't take a genius to see. Jensen and Jared have been together for about three months, they just finished moving in with each other a few days ago and all the stress and worry is taking its toll on them.

Jensen doesn't remember why he thought it was a good idea to invite his parents over so shortly after the move. Maybe he thought it would be easier for Jared if they were doing this on home turf, but Jensen honestly doesn't recall what he was thinking.

"Try not to worry too much, okay?" Jensen says. He wants to reassure Jared that his parents are going to love him - it's almost impossible to not love Jared right away - but he's not sure Jared's in the right state of mind to believe him unconditionally right now.

Jensen's parents have never been all over his boyfriends at first, but they've always been nice and friendly. But at least, they're somewhat used to meeting their gay son's boyfriends. This is an advantage they didn't have with Jared's family.

"Just be yourself," Jensen suggests. Before Jared can answer, Jensen pulls him close and kisses him fiercely. He tries to put all his heart and soul into that one kiss to bring the message across without speaking. Remember, we're in this together.

"Yeah," Jared whispers hoarsely and Jensen knows exactly what he means.

Jensen takes a deep breath before he leads Jared to the arrival area, ready to face whatever's going to happen.

Together.

For hunterwithcause: Two years before Blended and Blessed (mentions of Jensen/OMC)

He tries to be quiet as he inserts the key into the lock. The last time Jensen checked his watch, it was around three in the morning and as he enters his apartment, he estimates that it's nearly four.

Jensen slips out of his shoes right next to the door and runs a hand over his face. He's tired after a night out, some drinking, some casual sex, now dying for his bed. He can hear Chris' light snores from the living room and he smiles to himself. No matter how often Chris complains about Jensen asking him to babysit Audrey whenever Jensen wants to get a dick up his ass as Chris puts it, Jensen knows that Chris doesn't mind.

In the dark, Jensen walks into the living room, contemplates hitting the side of Chris' head to wake him up and to let him know that he's back. More so to annoy Chris than giving him the heads up that he'll take over himself and that Chris can go home and sleep comfortably in his own bed. He doesn't though. Instead, Jensen walks toward the bedroom to grab fresh clothes and then to hit the shower.

When he switches on the lights in the small hallway, yawning again, Jensen's taken aback. From where he's standing, he sees Audrey watch him from the threshold to his room. She's clutching that white, stuffed polar bear she loves so much, her eyes wide open and terrified. Her eyes are red, her face is wet, snot smeared all over it and it doesn't take a genius to figure out she's been crying.

Jensen doesn't think for a second, he just works on instinct. Within a heartbeat he's crouching down in front of his daughter and sweeps her into his arms. She sniffles and cries as Jensen simply rocks her back and forth.

"It's okay, baby," he whispers, willing himself to clam down to convey some of that calm to Audrey. He kisses the side of her head and uses his sleeve to clean her face. As soon as Jensen tries to pull away, confident that she's placid, Audrey whimpers.

With one smooth movement, he picks her up and carries her back into his room, softly cradling her left and right.

"It's okay. Daddy's here now," Jensen says again. "Did you have a bad dream?"

When she nods, Jensen kisses her once more. Her little hand fists in his shirt as Jensen walks up and down his bedroom. Audrey has nightmares every once in a while, not more often than other children do, he believes. Usually, she slips out of her bed and comes to Jensen's bedroom where he calms her down. Depending on how bad the dream was, Jensen brings her back to her own bed or allows her to sleep in his.

Tonight though, Audrey found Jensen's room empty, the fear of her daddy being gone adding to the scare of the dream. Jensen wants to kick himself for doing this to his child, for caring more about his own pleasure than caring about his three year old walking through the dark apartment, terrified and disoriented with the only attachment figure gone.

He reeks of sweat and alcohol and sex and the thought that the very same body that is warming up Audrey, that gives her comfort, is the same body that has been touched by a complete stranger just a few hours ago. Jensen's stomach turns and he has to try to pull himself together really hard.

It's moments like these, when the two sides of Jensen collide - the loving father and the single who needs to have a little fun every once in a while, who needs to live - that Jensen feels helpless and his usually so present confidence is gone.

When Audrey keeps clinging to him, he gets his act together quickly. Jensen continues walking up and down the room as he whispers soft nonsense to her, dedicating his full attention to the one person that needs him the most now: his daughter. His everything.

For hd_obsession: The day one of the girls gets married

She's without a doubt the most beautiful bride he has ever seen. Jensen might be a little biased because the bride is his daughter.

He might be a little biased because the bride is the girl he spent endless nights in the hospital with when she was a premature birth fighting for her young life. She's the girl who peed on him numerous times when he changed a dirty diaper.

She's the girl who drew hearts and flowers on his cast when he had a car accident with the outcome of a broken leg. She's the girl who thought it was a good idea to eat cake made out of mud that resulted in more puke than he had ever wanted to see. She's the girl who got into fights at school repeatedly that eventually lead to Jensen meeting the man he loves the most in his life.

She's also the girl he held in his arms when she cried over her first boyfriend ever dumping her for someone who didn't have braces. She's the girl he told several times that she couldn't leave the house in this particular outfit, only for Jared to poke him in the side and say it's okay - sometimes.

She's the girl he watched go from kindergarten to elementary school, from middle school to high school. She's the girl he bid farewell to college to study Theater Studies, making him the proudest father on earth. She's the sweet, little girl he watched become a beautiful and confident woman.

She's the girl he's supposed to give away to another man today.

Audrey has known Eric, her soon-to-be husband for five years and Jensen knows he's a great guy. He knows how much they love each other and how good they will be to each other. Still this doesn't mean this can't be hard for Jensen, right?

As he zooms out on the priest talking about love and commitment, about family and faithfulness, Jensen feels a finger brush over his cheek. Glancing to the side, he sees Jared smile compassionately at him, his eyes wet with unshed tears.

"You were crying again, you big crybaby," Jared whispers and then he bends in to kiss Jensen's temple.

Jensen smiles weakly and runs a hand over the cheek Jared didn't wipe the tears away from. He's not surprised to find it wet. Leaning slightly against Jared, he's grateful for Jared's presence, for his silent, strong support not just now, but all those years.

"I love you," Jared says. His arm tightens around Jensen's waist and when Jensen looks down, he sees the plain, gold band on Jared's finger, their own reminder of love, support and commitment until death parts them.

"I love you, too." Jensen has for over 20 years and he knows he will for another 20.

The ceremony is beautiful. Jensen remembers how stressed Audrey has been because of all the arrangements she had to make. But when he looks at Audrey's beautiful dress, the dresses of the bridesmaids (of course Sophie being the most gorgeous of them all), the flowers and decoration of the small church and even the prayers, readings and vows, he can tell it was well worth it.

Audrey is practically glowing. Jensen doesn't think he's ever seen his daughter so joyful and that alone is enough to make Jensen shed a few more tears. This time they're happy tears. When Jared tightens his arm around him, Jensen thinks that it's a good thing to cry a few more happy tears.

Jensen's the first to congratulate Audrey after the ceremony. For a heartbeat, they just look at each other, saying everything that needs to be said with out words. I love you. I'm happy for you. I'm so proud of you.

There are tears in Audrey's eyes and Jensen nearly bursts out laughing because this family has done a lot of crying today. And once more, Jensen just can't help but join in.

"Stop bawling, Daddy," Audrey giggles before she wipes away her own tears. "I didn't cry at Dad's and your wedding either and that's why you're not allowed to cry on my wedding day."

"Tough chance, baby," Jared says before Jensen can even take a breath to answer. "He's been crying all day and he doesn't look as if he were done any time soon."

Jensen lightly punches Jared's arm only to have Jared grin at him, his eyes crinkling. The lines at the corner of Jared's eyes slowly give away his age. His features are a little softer now, first gray hairs appearing. But if Jared has become one thing to Jensen over the years then it's even more attractive.

Jared engulfs Audrey in a giant hug and for a moment she trembles in Jared's strong arms. When she does a little wave, beckoning Jensen to join, he gladly goes. He simply enjoys the embrace, having his family so close to him. As soon as Sophie joins the group hug, Jensen thinks he's the luckiest man alive.

Audrey might be Mrs. Spencer now, but she'll always be his little girl.

I still have one more timestamp ficlet to write that I hopefully will get around to soon.
