It’s always the same, Milan thinks. You play and after that, when leaving the stadium there are all those people, fans, who stand by the fence, yelling for you, hoping you come over to sign their shirts, books, tickets or whatever. Whereas, in fact, all you want to is go home, sit down and have a rest.

He sighs as he is about to leave Villa Park, knowing already how it will be. Little screaming kids. Many of them.

It’s not that he isn’t grateful for the way the people received him and that he isn’t proud of being so popular, but sometimes it’s just too much. Especially if you just lost against your former club, all your efforts shot down by your old teammates.

Well. As he steps out, it’s just the way he knew it would be. People screaming everywhere, wanting him to come over. Not today though, he smiles at himself. Today, he has got something better to do.

He waves quickly at the fans before he walks around the Liverpool team bus, heading for his own car. As soon as he’s behind the bus he can see him, standing next to Reina, his little suitcase placed next to him, ready to be loaded into the car.

Xabi smiles at Milan as the Czech slowly approaches. As they stand face to face the Spaniard blushes a little. It’s been a while, hasn’t it?

Nevertheless, Milan does not hesitate one second to grab Xabi and pull him close for a warm hug. If you didn’t know better it would look like a normal hug between friends, a sign of platonic appreciation, yet they are far from that.

Eventually, Milan lets go before he smiles at Xabi, “Do you still feel like coming over?”

Xabi only grins sheepishly at Milan and whispers an almost inaudible, “Yes, can’t wait…”

The Spaniard is still smirking as he gets into the car, and as he is about to drive off towards Milan’s flat he finishes his sentence with, “…can’t wait to rip off your ugly coat.”
