I love to make lists and this is a list of my favorite books.  These are a list of my personal favorites, not a Top Ten Best list.  I hate rating my books compared to other books so I listed them alphabetically rather than numerically, except for the top two which are both most definitely tied for my all-time favorites.  I also couldn’t whittle it down to ten so I did a Top Fourteen instead.

Foreigner, C.J. Cherryh
    Humans must share a world with an alien species.

Dune, Frank Herbert
    Another of the great classics.

Sailing to Sarentium, Guy Gavriel Kay
    First Kay book I ever read.

The Lies of Locke Lamora, Scott Lynch
    The fantasy book of 2006!

All the Weyrs of Pern, Anne McCaffrey
    The culmination of the Dragonriders of Pern.

The Kagonesti, Douglas Niles
    My favorite DL book about woodland elves.

Coyote, Allen Steele
    Exploration of an alien world.

Lord of the Rings, J.R.R. Tolkien
    The forerunner of modern fantasy.

A Deepness in the Sky, Vernor Vinge
    A grand space opera, perhaps Vinge's best.
