Here's the letter
theminiwheat and I wrote to DC editors and Judd Winick. We actually sent it off snail mail to hopefully get our point across even more, since snail mail is so outmoded. Here's the address for anyone who wants to send a letter to them for any reason. I think the next one I write will be to get them to reunite the Joker and Harley Quinn.

I just wish that I didn't have to get my Jason in bits. :/ Like in BftC? There were bits of our Jason in there until Daniel fucked it up
Ugh, Battle for the Cowl. So terrible. The concept for Jason wasn't that bad, if you think of the general concept of how Jason would react to Bruce's death (ie. his fragile emotional issues underneath the tough guy exterior) and with no one stepping up to the plate of becoming Batman, he'd believe it was his responsibility. That concept is fine. The execution is terrible, though. I also think of Bruce's final message as being ridiculous, pointless and redundant. Bruce and Jason have already gone over that entire issue in Under the Hood. There was nothing new there, except for this "secret childhood trauma" that's brought up and never addressed in the mini or in any subsequent issues.
It's also clear to me that Tony Daniel simply doesn't understand Jason's character.
This is a pretty hilarious break-down that cracks me up every time I watch it.
While Jason under Morrison was definitely more manic, Morrison got a lot of things right, at least. I'm just gonna C&P what I wrote on another board...
I actually thought Morrison's Jason was a return to more of how he was written under Winick. The aesthetics, ie. the costume and the idea of him using the verse "Vengeance arms against his red right hand..." I was pretty ambivalent on.
But the rest was good:
Shooting the two guards who were going to take Scarlet in for killing her father (who had turned into one of Pyg's mindless drones)? Yes, that's in-character.
Almost re-creating the scene from Batman 635 when he goes in to "chat" with all the crime bosses? Yes, absolutely.
Being almost paternal, yet a little manipulative to the emotionally damaged Scarlet? Yes, I can totally see it. Telling his adoptive brothers to stand aside while they take out the "bad guys"? Yep. Bringing back some of that snark/black humour he has? Definitely.
Re-creating a scene from A Death in the Family, where Jason tells Scarlet to run and save herself, proving that he does care about the lives of innocents and that's the whole reason why he's doing this in the first place? Yes. I still think that Morrison's Jason walked that fine line, it's just that some of the things he said were more for Morrison to get in symbolism.
(And I still hate the red hair. I'm willing to suspend my disbelief that he came back from the dead, but that he was dying his hair while deceased I just can't)

Basically I said that I loved this letter, and you guys taking the time to write it and send it off is pretty awesome. I love that you're such vocal fans of the Jason Todd character and want to see him done right. I'd love to see Jason get his own comic book as well and you guys citing The Secret Six, Wolverine, Punisher and of course Deadpool (One of my personal favorites) was a smart idea as well. With Lost Days and the upcoming Under The Red Hood animated movie hopefully this is just the start of Jason's moment in the sun.

This makes me sad! Stupid livejournal.

I hope this encourages other fans to do the same. I know there are other really vocal fans of his. I got the advice to send it snail mail from Fabian Nicieza. (Who just so happens to be one of Wade Wilson's daddies, too!! :-D) He said snail mail is so outmoded these days that anyone who takes the time to send it that way would be given more resonance. And both theminiwheat and I were totally down for that!

And look how well those anti-hero comic book characters are doing. They're incredibly popular. And my love for Deadpool is pretty strong, too. Winick's Jason has a bit of the DP humour to him too: I can recall one of my fave Under the Hood scenes where Jason shoots a rocket into Black Mask's hq. The rpg actually has LOL written on it. Heh.

I hope so as well. The movie will definitely bring in more fans. There's a Facebook page for the movie that's already got 700+ fans signed up. Plus with Jensen Ackles voicing Jason... well, just wait for those fandoms to collide. I get the feeling there will be a flood of more fangirls.
I think a few of us are planning on doing something over at CBR, Gotham Knights Online and Scans_Daily, like a Jason Todd appreciation week when Under the Red Hood rolls out. I'll fill you in if you want to join in!

I also saw those questions you asked Fabian Nicieza which was awesome, and he seems like a nice dude, and that question about Tim's V-Card was funny because I also wondered that. I like that he refers to him as Drake, as do I, for the same reasons about his father he mentioned.
Lol, the RPG says "LOL" on it?! I gotta go look at that now. I never even noticed that. And I was happy when I found out Jensen was voicing Jason, I was a big fan of Jensen on Smallville (I freaking love Smallville) and seeing him as Jason as well as NPH as Nightwing is gonna be awesome.
And most definitely, I'd love to be a part of that. Please keep me updated when you guys decide to do it.

He really is awesome. For creators to take the time to answer fan questions like that is total class. Plus his Cable and Deadpool series is like my favourite series ever. My icon is actually from the series. (I love Wade/Outlaw)

It totally does! I posted it in the "drunken history of JToddz." He's definitely got a snarky, black sense of humour. I used to watch Smallville, but now my spouse controls the remote. And being Canucks, guess what season it is? And it's the Stanley Cup Finals, too.
But I think all the voice actors are great choices. I wonder if Talia will make an appearance...

I love that, because that's so Jason's character. I love the smart ass characters. Ah, being from Hockeytown (Detroit, MI) I know all about Hockey season. Good point, I wonder is Talia is in it. I'd love for her to be voiced by Claudia Black. She has the perfect voice for Talia in my opinion. Here's a vid of her if you've never heard her.

Yeah, totally would love to chat with him! I love when my fandoms collide. Jason, Deadpool, Batman.

It is! His snark is one of his best qualities. Well, that and all his emotional issues...

How totally random, but I actually grew up across from Detroit in Windsor, Ont. So I actually know Detroit very well!

Yeah, she's got a bit of the Liz Hurley to her, doesn't she? And I could absolutely see Talia having a different accent, either British or Iranian or something. That would be a great voice for her.

Yeah, Jason's a big bag of mixed emotions but I'm glad they were able to fit a sense of humor in there too.
Well isn't that a coincidence, well my neighbor to the north, I surprisingly hadn't thought of Talia having an Iranian voice actress. Speaking of which, I'm glad to hear she's in the upcoming Batman Arkham Asylum 2.

No way! I didn't know that Talia's going to be in Arkham Asylum 2?! That is so awesome! I hope Selina and Dick are in it, too. I wonder if they'll skip over Jason because of the death. Sad they always do that. D:
There was actually a Scarecrow dream sequence scene in Arkham Asylum where Bruce lifts up blankets in the morgue to reveal the bodies of his parents. When he was about to lift up the third blanket, I totally thought we were going to see Jason. Sadly, no. Poor Jaybird. He's always overlooked because the death scene is so dark. Except not anymore!!!

Oh yeah, so far it's leaked that she and Mr. Freeze are in it, and signs are pointing to Catwoman. Two-Face (of course), Penguin and Black Mask appearing too. I'd LOVE is Nightwing made an appearance, especially if you can play as him with his Escrima sticks.
That would've been awesome if Jason was under the last sheet in the Morgue! I wouldn't be surprised if they skip over him though, but I'd like to see him appear in more stuff once Under The Red Hood comes out and more people watch his gruesome death scene. I wanna see if they'll mention Superboy Prime punching stuff and bringing him back or just go straight to the Lazarus pits. Btw how awesome would a World's Finest 4 be with Superboy Prime and Jason Todd. I'd probably faint from the awesomeness.

Eee! I haven't been following the news on Arkham Asylum 2, but that's very exciting. It was so great to watch. (I never played it, because well, I live with someone who is far better at video games than me...)

Oh, me tooo. I really think this is going to be the best Batman animated movie released because it's not just about the action, there's a lot of emotion in this story.
I watched Superman?Batman: Public Enemies not that long ago and couldn't help but laugh most of the way through it. It's also really, really homoerotic. There's a scene where Batman is removing some kind of shrapnel from Superman and I totally thought there was definitely some subtext/flirting going on there. Not that it's a bad thing, but I don't know if it was intentional like in Kevin Smith's movies or in movies like Pineapple Express.
And then Shiva and Deadshot just pop out of nowhere about for two seconds and just get punched out immediately. That was actually so silly it was funny. I thought this was probably the weakest of the movies and a sequel is actually going to be the next up for animated movies. But I really enjoyed all the other movies, so maybe it'll be better...
But then again, Jeph Loeb....

Hahahah!! Jason would probably say: "Hey. Prime. Thanks for punching through the wall of reality. Heh." ~SMIRK~

Haha, I really liked Superman/Batman Public enemies. I'm not gonna lie, I did catch some over the flirting haha, but it's like that in the comic too. Plus it had PG (with Chloe from Smallville voicing her) so, she got all my attention. But nah, really I liked it, especially having Conroy and Tim Daly voice Bats and Superman. Shiva, Deadshot, Mongol and some other people getting owned in seconds was kind of... yeah. That made no sense but yeah.
That's exactly what I was thinking. Prime is such a loose cannon but I think Jason could manipulate him into doing what he wants.

Oh I still liked Superman/Batman. I just like making fun of it, too. XD And I wish PG had a bigger role in it. And I can't even remember if we even got a boob window crack in the movie. I hope we did because otherwise how sad. D:
Yes. I could see Jason being manipulative to someone like Stephanie Brown as well. And by that, I mean because she has experienced near-death torture herself, she could be more susceptible to breaking the Bat-moral code. (If say, Roman Sionis came back to life again. It'd have to be something huge).
Steph in so many ways follows Jason. She's a fellow Even Robin, she came from a poor home, has a criminal father and a junkie mom (her mom used to be a pill popper. She's not anymore, obviously, but Steph pretty much raised herself, just like Jason). And she "died" (but not really, unlike in his case, he actually died.) She also knows what it's like to be shut out of Batman's world. And she's been known to be pretty reckless. In terms of personality, though, they're polar opposites: if they had Lantern rings, she'd be blue and he'd definitely be red. XD

Haha, yeah they mentioned her boobs, well the kid Toyman (Toyboy?) did, Said something about "Am I right? Does Power Girl have huge.." Then Supes cuts him off. And he said she broke his X-Ray goggles when he tried to check her out.
Yeah I could see that, I'd love to see Steph stuck in the middle between siding with Jason or siding with Tim and Babs, that'd be interesting, especially since she's been working with Babs so much lately. You summing it up with Lantern rings is excellent, she'd definitely be a Blue Lantern and Jason would be spitting up blood right next to Atrocitus. By the way, am I the only one who thinks Dick should've gotten a Green Lantern ring during the whole Deputy ring phase? He'd be awesome with a Lantern's power and he has the Will for it.

One of my friends is upset: her LCS got short-changed on how many issues she got and even though it was on her pull-list, she didn't get a copy.
Lucky for us Canucks, we got ours on Wednesday, a day earlier than you guys.

That sucks, I'd be pretty pissed. Good thing is at least the issues seem to be selling good.
Yeah you guys lucked out, I'm jealous. Now I gotta dodge spoilers. I'm hoping Red Robin was good too.
