PONTIAC -- A second suspect in the 2005 fatal shooting of Clawson teen Kyle Belevender was charged Sunday with open murder.
A warrant for Michael Anderson, 22, of Detroit was issued Friday and he was arrested a short time later at his home.
A weekend magistrate at Oakland County Circuit Court entered a not guilty plea for Anderson, who is a friend of the first suspect, Leon Treadwell, 21, also of Detroit. No bond was set.
Police said "recently discovered evidence" connects Anderson to the murder of Belevender, 15, on Dec. 29, 2005. The victim was gunned down on Harwood Street in Royal Oak.
Treadwell also was charged with open murder. However, the jury couldn't reach a verdict. A mistrial was declared after the jury deadlocked.
Now Treadwell and Anderson likely will be co-defendants in separate trials. Open murder is punishable by up to life in prison.
During his trial, Treadwell's attorney, Antonio Tuddles, said someone else in Belevender's circle of acquaintances was to blame. Tuddles said one of them was like a child with cookie crumbs on his hand that instinctively points the finger at a sibling.
Treadwell emerged as a suspect early in the investigation. He fled to North Carolina and used an alias, eluding police almost a year. He was taken into custody in November 2006 following a joint operation between Royal Oak police and U.S. marshals in North Carolina.
ITS HILARIOUS THAT THIS "JOURNALIST" CAN'T EVEN GET KYLE'S AGE RIGHT! HE WAS 17 NOT 15
