so...I am a third of the way through my finals, so let's do the rundown like a bad TV show.
Monday was the quintet recital that I was subbing for...it went fine. Yay. Many people came, which was nice.
Wednesday was my viola jury...I did the second movement of the Hoffmeister from memory with cadenza. It went extremely well, and I played it the way I wanted to for the most part. The only thing is that I forgot that my nervous reaction is to sweat profusely, so my face was just doused in sweat, then after my jury (the strings faculty were the judges, minus one violin professor) Dr. Neumann (my professor) said (in that charming Canadian/British bastardized accent) "Well Ben, that was quite excellent, but next time I would suggest that you bring a hankie" at which all of the other professors giggled like 8 year olds, minus Dr. Heald, the one nice professor. Dr. Neumann also selected my summer teacher, Sinisa, a doctoral violin student from Serbia. He's not that great on viola (like he has a lower studio standing than I do)...but he has great insight in seminar and everyone loves him, but I am really a guinea pig student because he wants a more developed viola student so Dr. Neumann told me to study with him. He was not on my list of choices, but whatever, it should be fine. Dr. Heald (the nice violin professor who teaches viola during the summer) offered to teach me if I don't like Sinisa...he is so nice! Too bad Dr. Neumann forbade me from studying with him.
Then this morning was my French final...it went pretty well, I think. My essay was pretty long and the analysis was interesting but not too in-depth as I lacked the vocabulary to really express everything.
Then the rest of today I have been studying for my 3 finals tomorrow. Linguistics at 8, Dumb English at noon, then Physics at 7. Needless to say, Physics has received the bulk of my attention. I am not too worried about the rest of it, but I am absolutely panicked for Physics.
Then Saturday I am moving my stuff into Carolyn's apartment where I will be residing this summer...then that night is my cousin's wedding, so that should be awkward. Yay. Then Sunday I will be studying for my last final on Monday at noon (Honors English). Then Tuesday will be spent doing mind-numbing things with Erin. Like eating really fattening food and crying over Physics and French. Yay. Then I officially move out Wednesday morning and fly back in the afternoon. Yay!
My flight gets in at 5:30. Be prepared! Kwacha! That's it for now, more panic studying is on its way!
