Since my previous post on the subject, I went and got a 500GB SATA hard drive, threw Ubuntu on it (which was amazingly easy), and cp -rp'd my data over. It is now much much happier, with no clicking and with disk-intensive apps such as f-spot being quite responsive ( Read more... )

The other day we attempted to set mew0422 up with a wireless connection from her eMac in her third-floor room to the cable modem on the second floor. I was raised on a laptop. I prefer the thin keys with short travel that sit flat at the same level as my wrists. I also am a big fan of minimal design, which doesn't seem to be the trend with monstrosities like this on the market:
