Smashey!
I went to see monster trucks last night in Providence. I've seen them once before in Anaheim and once again, they did not disappoint. There was smashing, fire, rollovers, etc. all in the tiny space of a hockey arena.
Mid-show entertainment was a jet-powered ATV with an afterburner. It even made some sharp Mach diamonds as it dashed from one end of the arena to the other. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the diamonds on film.
After getting some sharp pictures, and inspired by this picture from Strobist, I increased my exposure time and crossed my fingers, trying to get more audience flashes.
In the end, Taz landed sideways, breaking off its front-right wheel. Also, some part, possibly the clutch of a limited-slip differential, glowed red hot and caught fire:
All in all, an awesome time.
