So the good news is, we get to keep living in our house, because we cleaned it sufficiently to satisfy the landlord who was apparently under the (badly mistaken, IOHO) impression that we were trashing his property. So he gave us two weeks to clean it up or he'd give us 30 days notice. Obviously that was not cool because our job-hunting efforts went ( Read more... )

what are FIB maps? anonymous February 28 2009, 18:59:51 UTC
I know I didn't throw them out. I can ask Todd. He was more ruthless than me with throwing things away. But what ARE they, anyway?

Well they were a collection of hand-drawn maps, I think 6 or 7, on printer paper. Each one was divided into a 4x4 grid. All drawn in pencil though I think one might have had some color in it.

I think if anyone threw it out it would've been Todd but I also don't think I remember him going through any papers...I think the stuff he threw out on his own initiative was bigger, bulkier kind of stuff.

They were maps which accompany my novel in progress...though they're also a hobby in and of themselves :-).

Oh, ouch! Best of luck finding them safe & sound.

Losing things when cleaning and/or moving is tricky. Rob & I have moved six times, and had to do emergency clean ups a few times (thank goodness we don't have a landlord any more). On a couple of occasions, something has been lost at one house, only to show up two or more moves later - which should be impossible, since everything we owned was packed and then unpacked with each move. Sometimes fairly substantially sized things, too.
