bike travails

I finally have my bike up and running again. I didn't realize how much I appreciate riding it until I had to drive for a week. I don't have a parking permit at school (mucho expensivo), so finding parking is a complete bitch. Furthermore, when parking is found, it is much further away than I can get by biking straight to my building. So driving costs more, takes longer, and is a pain.

After fixing my flat tire, I overtightened things when I put the wheel back on, causing the skewer (axle-like thing) to snap. So I've replaced that. I also put on new bar tape, which is AWESOME. Cushy, clean, black to match the paint, and put on much precisely than my dad had done. The final thing I tried was adjusting the front derailleur. This was much more problematic. I was attempting to make a minor tweak but ended up screwing things up. Too tight, too loose, back and forth, won't shift up, won't shift down, blah blah blah. Who knew that 2 little screws and a tension adjustor could be so complicated. I finally got it back to working condition, either at the same level or slightly worse than I began with. I think I'll get it professionally adjusted tomorrow. I'm learning though!
