Having a wonderful time back at school. New Haven in gorgeous and I'm making interesting friends left and right. Living on campus with a bunch of high schoolers. They are excied and hopeful, very little cynicism, and they love to talk, debate, enjoy each other's company.
Saw Cartow for the first time in forever last night. Wonderful :)
She may not know what to call "that furniture stuff," "the pot holders you put under pots," or how to "delude yourself with water." But she's still cool in my book, and can write some damn fine poetry.
My class on american nature writing looks to be amazing. The prof is very chill, and extremely intelligent. Really awakens that intellectual side of me which can be stunted by corpus. It's a life that I know I want. And realizing that again brings back the ambition I abandoned some time ago. I just busted out smiling when we read good poetry and some short essays in class. Ridiculous shit for a guy as old as me. And new haven in green almost to the point of exhaustion. Just busting out with the leaves buddy.
Hopefully this will be a great month of hope to counter the depression of the last few. And then comes august, sailing, the texas heat again, seeing mom and dad (crazy that I'm looking forward to it.)
Not a lyrical post, but certainly an excited one.
