+ Mathematical Paradox, anyone? I know this one is fairly known - enough that the book I read it from won't give me the answer - but the solution eludes me. Help!
Three men had dinner at an hotel and received a bill for 30 dollars. Each handed the waiter 10 dollars. The waiter took the money to the office where he was told that there had been a mistake: the bill should have been for only 25 dollars, not 30, so he was sent back with 5 dollars. On the way back, it occured to him that it wouldn't be easy to divide 5 by 3, that the men didn't know the amount of the bill anyway, and that they'd be glad for any return on the money. So he kept 2 dollars to himself, and returned one to each man.
Now, each of the man paid 9 dollars (total, 3*9 = 27 dollars), and the waiter kept 2. 27 + 2 = 29, and the men originally handed over 30 dollars. Where's the missing dollar?
+ I found a mouth-watering cake recipe, and thought I'd share.
Dobos Torte, anyone? I'd like to try it, but I'll look up a recipe in French, cause I doubt there were any corn syrup in the original recipe, and it's not easily available here.
+ Je suis retournée voir Good Morning England.
