Squee post
Tonight was an interesting night to be a fangirl. So lets get right into it.
I personally came into this epi with... less than high expectations. I knew it was going to be good, don't get me wrong, but god the previews were killing me. There was Lex, walking away from Clark and leaving him in the rubble (and it was bad of me but I really thought that was what was going on) and there was talk of friendship gone and *sigh* it looked painful.
Well, it wasn't. At least, I'm not sure what it was.
Highlights:
-Clark, blood, shrapnel. That was... yeah, I love my boys all bruised and bleeding it's very yummy.
-The lighting and cinematography. Holy crap people, they were showing the boys in the most perfect lighting, it just kept on getting better and better. And then that scene at the end with the smoke and lana and clark and lex, it was *stunning*.
-Martha and Clark time. Possibly some of my favorite parts ever are with Clark and his mom (excluding the clex naturally). And the talk, about his greatest weakness being his hope (and that look, have I mentioned how pretty TW was in this epi?) and then Clark's worry about giving up to soon on Lex. *snort* I'm with Martha on this, we all know he hasn't given up on him. (also 'I saw something I haven't seen in a long time... my friend' killed me dead)
- The woman talking about her husband and everybody making the obvious connection with clex. I mean really, even lex was doing it.
-The teeny silver shorts on the guy Lex was experimenting on. Oh yeah, he's got his gay back people.
- The saving. With Lex and the pipe and Clark grabbing his hand and the *touching* it was... *wail* I miss the early seasons of rampant gayness but this was pretty awesome. Also the shot where clark was straining to lift lex up, it was a hero shot and I love it.
Things that make me want to hit something:
-Fucking Lana. YOU DON'T THREATEN LIONEL LUTHOR BITCH, HE WILL CUT YOU! Seriously, where does she get off? It's Lionel, the magneficent bastard himself. She's a smear on the bottom of his shoe, not even.
-I have never hated Lana more. She's gotten so bitchy this season and it's really not an improvement. She's not scary people, she's not anything except always on the edge of crying.
-Also, how much do I want to hit them with the Lex/Lana marriage? I mean I could (okay really not) handle it if they were at least affectionate (or she wasn't feeling up clark in front of her husband) or they at least *touched*. People, I know Lex isn't a touchy feely person but god, he's supposed to love her (and yes, I know he's using her like Kleenex but still he's supposed to pretend) I want to see them acting married.
Random Things:
All in all? I really loved this episode, I've said it before and I'll say it again. When they get it right, they get it right. It hits every right emotional chord, the acting is perfect and the music and just everything. Same for when they get it wrong, it's horrid. This was, pretty near perfect for season 6. They're saving themselves and that's pretty admirable. Especially considering the fact that after Zod it was pretty crappy (and that Oliver has turned into Nell).
Also? I'm a huge Noir fan, it's practically a religion in my family. So we'll have to see how SV handling Noir will go. It looks like crack fun but I'm hesitant.
This was fun, it was nice to go back to the basics of 'see monster, hunt monster and be awesome'. Far less angsty than I thought it would be and generally a good time over all.
Highlights:
-"You think you're pretty funny don't you?" "I think I'm adorable." Don't we all Dean, don't we all.
-The orange jumpsuits. Seriously, it was near prison porn there. Both of the boys were rocking those jumpsuits.
-Glove porn. It was fantabulous people.
-The eyes on the ghost chick, they were pretty damn awesome.
-Sam. Sam was so much fun this epi. He was all 'god I sooo don't want to be here and I want to kill Dean, I really really do' it was to much fun. He was completely out of his element and he hated it and Dean was obviously enjoying it far to much. Also? Sam wriggling his way into the vent? Hehehehehe.
- Tiny, I was saddened when he died. He was fun. And I'm also loving the 'my brother shot my father' which we all know Dean was going 'almost been there, almost done that'.
Things that were meh:
-FBI dude, anyone else get the feeling that he's about to step over the line with this little obession of his? He's obviously a man on the edge and this is *not* going to end well. I'm not sure how much I like him, despite the fact the man can work a suit.
-Uh.... there wasn't enough Metallicar.
Random Thoughts.
Every week SPN keeps setting the bar higher and every week they keep on delivering. It's insane how good this season is and how much better it keeps getting. It doesn't disappoint and I'm not sure if it's ever going to.
Next week on SPN, we tear Dean's heart out again and break it into tiny little pieces. So, basically, on par for the rest of the season.
In other news? *sooo* screwed with my research paper.
